Edge icon bug or connected

I apologise if this has been covered, but didnt find it. After using EDGE connection for email or web browsing, the EDGE connected icon (with the 2 little arrows) stays active. I have shut down the browser and email apps from the memory manager and it didnt help The only way to change it back to the EDGE available (E in the Box) is to soft reset. Is this a bug or does the gprs/edge connection stay active after use. If it does wont it drain my battery faster?

Hold the End talk button and it will disconnect. It is normal for connection to stay alive for a short while. You're only charged by the amount of data you trasnfered not how long you connected.
