Go to www.motox.us then go to Forums Section and pic on for V3i ... there is Thread Floating around with WALK THRU how to get you V3i Recognized by P2k programs it might be even in stickies.

As far as I can see the only issue with connecting the V3i to programs is you have to change the USB settings. Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> USB Settings -> Default Connection -> Data/Fax Connection -> Select. That should solve any issues with this phone using any software you already used for your motorola phones. This sets the phone like a regular V3 into the computer. Now Memory Card sets the phone like an additions external harddrive for itunes and memory usage. So unless you playing with itunes not a good idea to leave in the setting of "Memory Card"

I'm having the same issue, MPT, no problems, nothing else connects. When my Win XP Pro machine loads the phone, it only finds the modem. My XP laptop at home, finds the modem plus 4 other items and works fine. I think its an XP pro thing.

Cant be as I am using xp pro. try removing hardware once it connects and see what re-installs . Also PST Phone Programmer is a program which in a nice way forces the phone to be reconized in other ways . You might want to try that also .

Posted by: VTECaddict

i'm having this problem too and i have tried opening PST and RSD, and it still doesnt force windows to install the other 3 things.

Posted by: cleancut1

Same exact problem here. XP just refuses to recognize the other things, and they cannot be added manually through the add new hardware wizard. VERY FRUSTRATING! I have spent HOURS searching all the boards, and this post seems to be the most on point for this particular problem.

What does reconize your phone meaning what programs ? And what is your usb settings set to ?

Same question to you. What does reconize your phone meaning what programs ? And what is your usb settings set to ?

When it is set to memory card mode the computer reconizes it as a mass storage device, but when i set it to data/fax mode, the computer dosent even reconize it. Am I missing some software?

You need drivers...

OK where can I get those drivers?

They are all over the place . Even on my ftp. All you have to do is search and read .

FYI, I am having the same problem with my L6. I have Win XP Pro on an IBM T42P. MPT works fine with Bluetooth or USB.

When I first plugged the phone into the computer's USB port nothing happened. I re-booted and tried again. This time, the modem was found and I pointed it to the P2K Drivers that were included with the version of motomidman (038) that I had. No other devices were found.

Can you list the items that it finds? There are a couple dozen possible choices when trying to add devices manually (though I have never successfully added hardware to XP manually).

Just checking - everyone remember to set their phone's USB connection to "data/fax"? Setting it to "memory card" won't work...

Edit - I see one person checked that. There's been a lot of this "my phone won't connect to p2k" lately. Seems to be mostly mini-USB phones, too. All my Motos with "old school" connectors have always connected via p2k.

If anyone figures it out, let's sticky it!

Posted by: jridder

I got my L6 working. Here is what I did (as far as I can remember):

I installed MPT and got it working over Bluetooth (though with my IBM I had to do the Bluetooth pairing using IBM's utility, not Motorola's).

I plugged the phone into the computer's USB port and (after a reboot) the computer detected a Motorola modem. I pointed the hardware wizard to the P2K_Drivers directory that came with the MotoMidMan v.038 software that I had downloaded. That went fine, but no other devices were found and MotoMidMan would not connect.

I then installed PST 7.1.1 (is this the latest?). The install was a little buggy since it was trying to install patches that only applied to Win XP SP1, not SP2. After killing the setup program and rebooting I started PST and then plugged the phone in (I actually am not sure that I started PST first). This time four more devices were detected. Here's what was found and what driver was installed (I continued pointing the hardware wizard to the P2K_Drivers directory):

Motorola Phone (L6) - installed USB Composite Device driver
Motorola Accessory - installed Accessories Interface
Motorola MCU Datalogger - installed Data Logging MCU Interface
Motorola Test Command - installed Test Command Interface

I then closed PST and started MotoMidMan and it connected. Interestingly, the Motorola modem seems to have disappeared from the list of devices.

Also note that the L6 has no menu setting for USB since it is never accessed as a mass storage device (there's no memory card on an L6).

Posted by: jridder

I did some more testing. I turned on the Java app loader. There was no "apply" button, just a "restart" so I assumed that's what I needed to do. That restarted the phone and broke my connection.

I then had no L6 devices listed in device manager at all. I unplugged the phone, waited 5 seconds, then plugged it in again. This time I got the Motorola modem listed. I started PST and it started up the other devices (and killed the modem). I exited PST and MotoMidMan worked again.

So far I have just backed up the apps/games included with the phone. I have 1000 games to try to see what works (well) on an L6. It has a 160x128 screen which is used on some other brands of phones but not Motorola (at least not too many - MotoMidMan does not list it as one of the resolutions under Java Adapter).

I have had the same problem and got the latest PST and ran that and it started the other programs/services needed for any P2K software to connect to my RAZR.

Are you saying your phone is working now or that you still are having an issue ...

"it started the other programs/services needed for any P2K software to connect to my RAZR."
Yes it is working because of PST.

is usb connection set to data/fax... uninstall the motorola driver from pc device man. and replug in cable to get recognised (check com setting on program used)

Posted by: PURESKILLZZZ

All you V3i users ...... New drivers (2.9) out help to work better ... also simple as pie for all java apps is MotoMidMan..... I have tried it and its for those who want to do no work .....

Posted by: 767fixer

simple solution. Hold dow the * key and the # key as you turn phone on. it places the v3i into usb mode. the computer will prompt for driver. after that load whatever you are flashing (leaving phone in usb mode) when the flash is complete the phone will reboot and prompt for the final drivers... after that no troubles again

Posted by: PURESKILLZZZ

^^^ Peoople still need the drivers .... lol

Posted by: Edeescam

Ok...I have the 2.9 drivers. When I plug in my phone, the comp detects it as a Motorola V3i modem. I point to the folders directory and install the 2.9 drivers. My computer asks for some file "usbrempt.sys" or something. I point to that file in system32-drivers folder. It installs and says my new hardware is ready to use.

My V3i comes up as a motorola modem. My phone is set to data/fax. However, skiman does not work and P2K Commander says my phone is connected as an AT device.

I tried following every guide, switching usb cables, switching usb slots, everything. Nothing works. I just wanted to use SKiMAn to upload a skin and it will not connect

Posted by: VolatileGrl

Hi, I have this problem..I have a NEW V3i and When I plug in I get this " Disconnect USB cable to access memory card from phone " message when i plug it in, but nothing shows up on my computer :/ i Mean it looks like Windows doesn't recognized it! but the cellphone do the little sound when I plug in the cable ..But not my Windows...it just show that yellow cloud with this :USB Device not Recognized One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.For assistance in solving this problem, click this message. I dont understand What I'm doing Wrong?????? By the way I have Win XP SP2 please helP HeRe!

how'd u get the cable to work?
Please help me with this..someone ???

You have to put your phone in data/fax mode. Settings-connections-usb-data/fax.

Ok folks ... Let me see if I can save the day ..... Your phone is connected as a modem but you want it to connect as a motorola usb device. I believe I have said it many times before but here goes again . You need to use a program to force it to change . Not saying you are going to use the program for your task but just to get the phone to be reconized as a motorola usb device which includes ...
1.) Accessories Interface
2.) Data Logging MCU Interface
3.) Test Command Interface

Such programs include : PST Phone Programmer , MotoMidMan , MultiFlashFlexp2kman and many others. And as always the drivers are on my ftp which is located in my signature.

Pureskillzzz,

Lemme just say that you are DA SHIAT! You not only saved my day, but you made my whole YEAR! I was beatin my head against the wall, trying to figure out how to get my Motorola v3i to work properly! Then I stumbled across your post and FINALLY got it to work properly! I was thinking I was going to have to just deal with only using MPT (which would SEVERELY limit what one can do with a phone like this!). I used your method, and BLAM, it worked! My PC finally recognized the Accessories Interface, Data Logging MCU Interface & Test Command Interface! You should have seen my face when it FINALLY went thru!

Thanks again Pureskillzzz....you have DEFINITELY earned yer name.

There WERE a few steps, not mentioned here, that I had to take....so I listed the entire process (including Pureskillzzz's post) on this site: http://motomodders.net/Default.aspx...c&postid=267069

I'll list it here as well:

Pureskillzzz posted this:

That was TOTALLY the fix to my problem. My phone wasn't recognizing the 3 things listed above. It was only see'ing the modem...and even then, only MPT was able to be utilized. One step that is missed here is one I found on this forum: First thing that needs to be done is to set the phone up for DATA/FAX CONNECTION instead of MEMORY CARD. To do this, on your v3i, go to SETTINGS then CONNECTION then USB SETTINGS and change it here from MEMORY CARD (Default) to DATA/FAX CONNECTION.

From there, you MAY want to get the tool that uninstalls motorola cell phone drivers (if you've already tried other drivers to no avail). I uploaded that to a storage site, so here's the link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RJDS4VF4

Reconnect your cell phone and when prompted to install automatically, choose to set an additional path to look in (where you placed MotoMidMan)....BUT point it in the P2K_Drivers section of MotoMidMan. Hell, I even tried the p2k drivers listed here, and it didn't recognize all the three sub-devices (listed above in Pureskillzzz post)...just the MODEM part (and it wouldn't even list the modem in the 'device manager'.....but enough for MPT to see it).

I also did the above process (the drivers section of MotoMidMan) with all three sub-devices detected.

'sstroud' here already suggested to try as a program to access the phone for games and such), but I needed to follow ALL the above steps to get everything recognized.

I have been reading, TONS of people are having this problem with the v3i...and this IS the solution. Now, I also use this method to successfully detect ALL Motorola devices I add (v400, v551, v557 & v600 so far..successfully).

I hope this wasn't TOO long winded of a post, but I did search this site a bit and couldn't find any work arounds that went into the details I listed. I probably missed a post, but maybe this should be linked as a permanent (top listed) type post so people can see it easily as to what they have to do for the v3i.

Oh yeah, another bit of advice is to turn I-Tunes settings to NOT start up on connection of the cell phone. But that may be taken care of when changing it to DATA/FAX CONNECTION (which MAY have to be turned back to MEMORY CARD to use I-Tunes...dunno yet).

Out of all the posts in this thread, the above solved my issue.

Problem, as stated many times in this thread, is DRIVERS.

All I had to do was point the Hardware Wizzard to "system32/drivers" and done.

Now Motokit recognizes the phone.

What I'm trying to say is before reading this post, it didn't even dawn on me as to the location which the 2.9 driver pack would install into, was looking for a folder under Program Files to no avail.

It is strange though that XP wasn't able to automatically install the drivers given the folder they were in.

Anyway,

Cheers!

I have spent 2 full "vacation days" trying to get this working and I've about had it. I've installed, uninstalled, upgraded etc. I've read every forum out there (several times) so that I wouldn't get a "search the forum response" Trust me, I have searched AND read and I still can't get it to work.

I know what my problem is (I think) I just can't fix it. I CANNOT get my Win XP SP2 computer to recognize anything except MPT. I used motomidman as per the directions on this forum and it installed the USB modem (as it has done zillions of times w/all the other SW) but I cannot get it to recognize or prompt me for: Accessories Interface, Data Logging MCU Interface & Test Command Interface.

I wasn't able to find a copy of PST that would install (I realize the rules of the forum and won't ask) The motomidman version I have DOES have the drivers, I pointde to them, but only got the first USB install. What am I missing that I'm not getting the others? I have ALL the SW downloaded per the instructions on this and other forums

What I got: razr v3i with China Mobile branding and all the outdated SW, flex etc listed below.

Specs:
Boot Loader 0A.52
SW Version: R4441D_G08.01.03R
OK to Program connect USB
Data Cable
S/W Version
Flex GSUSLQAET677UR038
s/w VERSION: R4441D_G_08.01.03R
DSP S/W VERSION 632A2A00

Anyone able to help with this?

thanks!

Only thing I can say is that sp2 can cause SO many programs to stop working properly or at all...and the chances of cell phone modding programs to be in an even higher possibility of being negatively effected by sp2. This may not be so for everyone, but I've helped many people thru that dilema.

Posted by: zelophedad

Thanks for your reply; can you point me toward a *possible* resolution to this dilemma? Do I even have a fighting chance? I have an older computer with Win2K, should I use that instead?
thx

hey guys --

i was wondering if you could help me out. i'm having problems as well.

my slvr l7 with itunes isn't connecting to p2kman or p2ktools.

my mpt updated ... and that works fine - i can connect to it.

i d'loaded the drivers from motomodders and they installed successfully.

my phone is on data/fax mode by default.

but when i plug my phone into p2ktools or p2kman or even motomidman, it says found new hardware for L7 (iTunes) and then when i do the "install software automatically" it doesn't find anything. it comes back with an error "the hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software."

where am i supposed to point it to?

i'm pretty good with troubleshooting & all that, but i'm stuck - i'm not getting the popups for all the other 3 drivers to install ...

thanks guys

So is everything working now ???

Posted by: zelophedad

Hi, thanks for your reply, connectivity is "working", I did every backup I could find on the various forums (motokit and both of Scotty2's backups including the full V3i)

my current dilemma is what do do about all the china mobile branding on the phone and how to get rid of it. I've been awash in the forums for several days trying to figure out whether I should MP, flex, flash, LP, seem or whatever just to get the China Mobile stuff off. I have the following versions:
Boot Loader 0A.52
SW Version: R4441D_G08.01.03R
Flex GSUSLQAET677UR038
DSP S/W VERSION 632A2A00

I was told that R4441D is better than R479 (I have NON-itunes) and there is an issue with going back, so I didn't want to do a full-blown MP flash. anyhow, I should probably post this to a flash/flex forum, but I haven't had much luck. I've searched quite a bit and no one has posted this type of question, my guess is that everyone else knows what to do(?)

I have Cingular service, but use the old "blue" network (AT&T wireless) my phone is unlocked, so I don't want to lock it.

any advice?

thanks in advance

Hello there, it sounds like I'm the next in a long list of people unable to connect their pc to their RAZR v3i.

I'm not very pc literate so please forgive any holes in my knowledge, but any any help received will be greatly appreciated.

My gf has moved on from her Motorola RAZR v3i and wants to sell it on eBay

I bought some v3i unlocking software on eBay, it's the p2k software I've seen mentioned in this forum.

I've run the software, and tried to unlock the phone but the p2k can't connect to the v3i. I've followed most of the advice given here - checked the phone is in modem mode and followed a link posted here that removed the Motorola drivers, but now can't find the new drivers - PURESKILLZZZ, your ftp site doesn't seem to work for me.

Please can some advise me what to do next? I'm thinking it's download new drivers, then reconnect phone, use the drivers downloaded and then open p2k, select v3i, unlock SP and hey presto! Is it that simple?

Many thanks in advance

I was told that R4441D is better than R479 (I have NON-itunes) and there is an issue with going back, so I didn't want to do a full-blown MP flash. anyhow, I should probably post this to a flash/flex forum, but I haven't had much luck. I've searched quite a bit and no one has posted this type of question, my guess is that everyone else knows what to do(?)

I have Cingular service, but use the old "blue" network (AT&T wireless) my phone is unlocked, so I don't want to lock it.

any advice?

thanks in advance

-Lou

I hear you dont want to do a full flash but that may be your best bet. So you can do as you wish but finding a flash/flex with all the goodies you want will solve a lot of issues you may have.

Ok ... Yes you need the correct drivers first. Use smartt ftp and connect to my ftp.

Okay, done that

I've reinstalled the Motorola CD drivers, should I re-uninstall them?

Okokok... First off for the last year I have hacked and slashed my way through my V3i but now as of last week PST,P2K,P2KAE anything will not find my phone. Windows does it's little ding as it connects, then a pause and wants to install it, then if I just cancel that crap and try a program to find it it does the disconnect ding followed by a screw up triple ding... I've set up my USB port ages ago for it and with no warning poof no hack for me... I ended up getting some drivers off some guy in Missisauga for the "common files" folder something shared motorola files and they're just sitting there along with a non working RSD Lite 1.8 that didn't install at all properly without all like .dll and want not. SO. . . . Yeah now, Maestros of the Phones learn me the ways of the drivers or something or other.
