ok im a noob with cell phone stuff, i just got my usb for this phone, and installed bitmip, but i cant detect the phone at all. maybe because the usb cable says LG VX7000 on it? the website said it would work the the 9800, so if anyone could help on how to detect. thank you

make sure you fully install the USB drivers, that's what I had to do. Then choose the driver from BitPim's list.

pretty sure i got the drivers installed, how do i select drivers by the wa, is it the com ports? cause i tried all the com ports i could chose and still no connection

In Bitpim, choose Edit | Settings | Click on Browse to the right of COM Ports and you should see a list of ports.
Underneath =======Available Ports========
you should see a list of drivers that you have installed, look for your phone there.

I can email you another copy of the drivers if you'd like, pm me with your email and i'll send them to you.

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have the 9800 and I'm also having trouble getting BitPim to recognize my phone. I'm trying to connect with a Bluetooth 2.0 wireless adapter (rather than a USB cable) on a Windows XP SP2 platform (DELL PC). Bluetooth appears to be working properly b/c the phone can see my PC and vice versa (and they are paired). However, BitPim hangs when I try most actions such as when I
select Edit --> Phone Info:
Here's what the regular log shows:

...and it just hangs. I have to end the task in task mgr. I think I saw somewhere that there is something additional I need to do for XP SP2, but I can't find it again. I'm new at using BitPim and Bluetooth.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Disregard my previous post. I saw in another thread how to check for the correct COM port in My Bluetooth Places (serial port), I was using the wrong one. I was able to get my pics & call history, but getting an exception error trying to get my phonebook data. I'll keep trying...
