No Signal Strength with GSM T720

I purchased a used phone off of ebay. It says locked to Cingular. I put my sim card in, and I get no signal bars at all. I'm kinda new to motorola, and how things work. But in my Nokia i'd get 5 bars where i'm trying. The T720 has zero bars, and when i try to dial a number it says "Call Failed:" immediately. When i initially powered on the phone it says "Searching for Network" and then went away after 30 secs. I can't seem to get a signal anywhere. I've tried resetting the phone, and using the 000000 code. Is there something I'm missing ? some setting in the phone somewhere ? Should I try to flash to a new Flex/firmware ?
Thanks.

Maybe that phone has water damage. Try another sim card

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the phone is dead. If you insert the SIM and it searches for a network, the phone recognizes the SIM, but that's it. It is time to get your money back.

Good luck...JL

Yeah, maybe it has water damage. I looked inside and see a little bit of corrosion. It turns on tho, and everything else works ok. So the RF is zapped or something ? Is it worth taking apart ? I got it for pretty cheap, so no big loss.

If you found a small sized sticker that was supposed to be white and it turned red or any red small sticker, then it definitely is a water damage phone. Some phones can still survive from a water, weird science but it's true.

If I were you, I'd try to get my money back if it's more than 10 bucks. Hey, at least 10 bucks worth two large pizzas at Little Caesars
