I have asked general questions with nothing really working. I finally found this guide which has worked for alot of people. My problem is in the last step of the process. I do not have "Motorola USB Device" in device managers. I know that are supposed to "point" them to the proper spot, but why arent they there on my list? thanks!
This is a step by step guide on how I have done this(It worked like magic).
If you have not downloaded any P2kPrograms or MPT, skip steps one through seven
1. Go to control panel and delete every/any program you may have that has to do with your phone(MPT-Motorola Phone Tools, RSD Lite and/or any other P2k Program you may have installed). Also delete every P2k Program you have downloaded like P2kTools and/or P2kMan in what ever folder you may have them in(this also includes all driver packs) zipped and unzipped.
2. Right click on Start on you PC and go to search
3. Type in System32 and search My Computer
4. When the folder comes up, double click on the folder, then double click the driver folder(if there is a second folder that has a similar name of System32, but only has a few files in it delete it completely).
5. Look for anything with the name P2k and Mot in the beginning of the file name, then delete them(try not miss any otherwise they may have a conflict)
6. Go back to the search option and search for everything on this list one by one(you may not have them all) and delete each one
p2k.sys
p2k.inf
USBMOT2000.inf
W2KXPMDM.inf
USBCDCMOT.inf
USBMDMMOT.inf
CDMA1X.inf
motcompXP.inf
motblan.inf
7. Restart your PC
8. Go to the download sectionhttp://www.motox.info/showthread.php?t=1297 and download P2kTools v.0.8.6 and also download this P2K Drivers Pack
9. Extract the files, you will also need WinRar for this
10. Run the Motorola USB Driver v2.9 install Program
11. Open the P2kTools v.0.8.6 program
12. Plug in the phone into you PC
13. Go to My Computer under the start menu and right click, then select properties
14. Click on the hardware tab then click on the device manager button
15. At this point you should have this somewhere on the list
-Motorola USB Device
1-Accessories Interface
2-Data Logging MCU Interface . . .
3-Test Command Interface
right click each one of these three and go to update drivers, select the second option/install from a list or specified location(advanced) on the first screen of the hardware update wizard - Click next button - Select the option search for the best driver in these locations also make sure to Include this location in the search box is also selected(and no others) . . ,In the search box copy and paste this C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers (unless you drive is not C, then you would replace the C with what ever drive you use.
Do this step for each of these - Accessories Interface - Data Logging MCU Interface - Test Command Interface
You are done. . . . . .Maximize P2kTools v.0.8.6 and hit refresh
