can a Cingular 5600 be used on Verizon network, and if so - how?

I searched through many posts in these forums, but couldn't find an answer...

I'm a Cingular customer and have upgraded from the 5600 to a 2125. My girlfriend, however, is a Verizon customer - and I'd like to give her the 5600; if this is even possible - what needs to be done and how?

As far as I know, you can't.
Verizon and Cingular work on different technologies; GSM & CDMA, respectively.

I wish there was some kind of CDMA to GSM coverter, that would make things a lot better for many switching carriers...
