Please help with motorola i710-newbie

Forum,
We just got nextel motorola i710's for work. The ringtone selection is boring to say the least. I bought a data cable and cd with ringtones and wallpapers. The seller directed me to a motorola iden update link. I got through most of it ok, but then it keeps giving me an error window saying something to the effect that the software on my phone is a newer version and not compatible. The version of my software is R2B.02.04.
Does anyone know how to get other ringtones on my phone through the data cable? We can't buy them through our work account wirelessly.
P.S. As you can probably tell, my knowledge of this stuff is almost nonexistent :-(
