Cingular overseas SMS w/S40

Has anyone been able to text message to an overseas number (thinking specifically of Globe in the Philippines) on Cingular with a Siemens S40? I switched to Cingular, whose signal strength is really bad, only to be able to do that, which all my friends can do on their other-model phones. But every time I try, I only get "Try again!" I want to scream. I'm using the same message center number as them, sending messages to the same phone numbers as them. It works for them on their Nokias, but not on my S40. Any hints? Thanks.

The problem may be your weak signal strength.

I have discovered the reason I can't send SMS internationally on the Siemens S40 via Cingular. I put my SIM in a Nokia phone (yeah!), and that phone showed that my SIM was set to send ALL SMS messages via email, not text SMS. On the S40 (boo, hiss) that Cingular (boo, hiss) sells, there is NO WAY to change the SIM setting. But my friend changed my SIM setting on his Nokia (yeah!), and now it works.
I still hate the S40. The keyboard is too small, the text is so small that it is unreadable, and the programming is trash. I'm trading for a Nokia.
