5600 stopped syncing to Exchange?! Help!

I have been using this 5600 for a year to sync to my exchange server. All the sudden Sunday morning it stopped. The error is "Syncronization failed due to a communications failure. Try again."
I've rebooted the phone several times, and changed/reset the server settings.
The odd thing is, I can open a web browser on the phone, type in the address I am trying to sync to, (<servername>/oma) and get my mail that way. So it DOES access the server, just not through the sync program.
What is going on? what can I try to fix this problem?
