I was just gonna ask this same thing, my girlfriend recently got a 6256i for Verizon and I transferred the music to her phone but when I tried to set it as a ringtone it said invalid file. I work for a cingular agent and this week our nokia rep came into the store, he informed me that because of the phone specs and what verizon does being so lame and not customer friendly when it comes to these things that if you download pc suite from nokia.com you can change the format of the the mp3 to .amr which will play on the phone just a little less quality. I plan on trying to fix this for her this weekend so I don't know how hard it will be yet but you can give it a shot and let me know how it goes.

So PC Suite can change to AMR? Neat! I tried to change an .mp3 to an .amr recently and it still says invalid file. I am using a Noka 6255i with U.S. Cellular.
