I purchased my Motorola V3i a short time ago and I love it. I haven't had any problems out of it except for two things: Internet settings & volume.
I fixed and controlled my internet problems (Thanks to the help of this forum and MOTOX), but I can't seem to get (let alone understand) how to mod my gain table settings. So I turn once again to the help of you revolutionaries in the mobile mod era. Can anyone give me a walkthrough as to how I even go by modding my gain_table.bin file and/or backing up my entire phone files. I am still a BRAND NEW amatuer to this whole mobile modding concept and am very afraid of turning my awesome V3i into a expensive RAZR paperweight. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would be so pleased to learn how to backup my files and modify my gain_table.bin. I currently have P2KTools , Old P2k, Motokit, MPT, XV132 Hex Editor, P2k Commander. However I heard that for this situation it might be better to mod this file with the XV132 Hex Editor. ANY help is welcomed. Thanks.

as much as i have read about it it isnt possible. it comes with the seem edit to the loudest and cant get any louder.

did mine with the new p2k and xv hex editor like always. The recommended settings do not apply to the v3i as the defaults are different.

If youre not sure about how to set one just go up one setting at a time from the default settings until you find what works for you. Then report back and let us know what you found! lol

only one I have had time to do was the 1st one, here's how I would update the info

offset 0D earpiece call gain (original setting: 08, recommended setting: 0B) (master control at offset 10: 08 is original setting)

remember to count in hex, it goes 00 - 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F 10. I just went up from the original settings one by one till I was happy with it. It's a pain but without a recommended place to start it seemd like the quickest way. I havn't had time to mess with any others. Anyone else have any findings to add?

Interesting that the gain_table is defaulted differently than the other phones. Is the volume any louder to start out than the default volume on a V3/V635/V600 or whatever?

xlr8 as far as i know, most of the gain table works fine for the v3i, Just the wired headset (headphones) makes no difference with changes made with the current map. I find all my default settings for v3i fine personally except the headphones are pretty low if theres outside noise around, would be nice to go higher if needed. Please help !

You can mod the gain table the exact same as the V3... also basic gain table modification can be done with motokit... tested on mine and verified that it works.

Oh and just a side note... the best tool for downloading the gain_table.bin and other system files is p2ktools beta V0.8.6 you can still hex edit with XVI32 or you can just use the built in hex editor available with the p2ktools program.

didnt seem so to me, not as far as headset/bt earpiece

Whenever I get a chance to try some others I will post back. You may also want to try P2K Advanced Editor Version 9.0.0 build 4929........just connect the phone, click on gain table from the drop down menu at the top, click read from phone and it gives you a complete listing of alll the settings and shows the phones settings and lets you do simple point and click changes..you can get it from MOMO
