Hey all I've been researching the Motorola Pebl and so far have heard alot of good things about it. Anyone on the board have any input on it?

Also, last time I purchased a phone not Cingular branded I could not access certain functions such as internet although I tried some stuff with it that was mentioned on these boards. If I recall correctly, isn't there a website that can set the phone up for you according to your network? Any input will greatly be appreciated!!

I'm using an unlocked pebl and its great. Its a nice Motorola, and the voice command functions are cool. Setting up the internet and email is pretty easy if you know how to do it.

Foxfire...

I'm very interested in getting this phone and have been looking for someone that had experience with it through Cingular...

Some say it does and some say it doesn't support EDGE - does it?

How is the reception versus Nokia or the RAZR?

Is it Tri or Quad Band?

Any problem with the new hinge?

How loud is the earpiece?

Any problems what so ever???

THANKS!

I believe that most of the pebls come as a quad band. As far as reception, I have always felt that motos get better reception than nokias. That has always been my experience.

i have has my unlocked unbranded pebl on cingular for about a month..email.mms and wap work perfect..just need to know how to do it. as far as the hinge the bulit on this bad boy is really good, no problems at all. reception. this is the best reception i have ever had, and i had a lot of phones including a v3. v635, 6230 and 6102, its top notch, you wont regret buying it.

I also use an unlocked PEBL (on Cingular). Mine is quad-band, but I have heard about a tri-band version, though I have not actually encountered one. As far as reception, it is equal to the RAZR, which is to say that it's stellar. I find the earpiece to be louder/clearer than the RAZR; build quality, including the hinge, has been solid so far, and as far as I can tell, the phone does not support EDGE.

where did everyone buy theirs? recommendations?

Posted by: saumellj

does unlocked phones has better reception that locked phones?

Posted by: michael3977

From what I have read and been told there is no change in the reception at all.

From experience, its the phone and firmware in it

i used a unlocked Pebl for acouple weeks and all features worked fine, VGA camera average, RF seemed on par with Razor, my experience nokias hold onto a call more reliably in a bad area than Moto but the Pebl is still an over achiever...I found the Middle Nav button to be way too small..No Edge but browser seems alittle faster than the razors Browser...Hinge works very well...Black softtouch version still gets dirty easy...the phone just seemed kinda feminin to me...Nice screen...I think youll be impressed....

so where would everyone recommend to buy - need a trustworthy place. i'm also really considering the RED PEBL...

http://www.mobileplanet.com/

They are somewhat competitively priced and certainly safer than eBay. I don't know if they carry the red one though.
