a friend of mine picked up an unlocked L6 on ebay. the phone came in and works fine, but the menus are real funky. they look nothing like any other motorola interface i've seen. here's a pic:

he also can't change any of his soft keys with the exception of the left key. here's what the default right key looks like:

half the phone is in chinese. is there anything he can do like a firmware change to make it US/European? or should he contact the seller. he sent me a link originally and they had pictures of a normal UI so i think this is pretty bogus. guess that's egay for ya.
either way, i was hoping there was something he could do to have this phone function more like he'd want.

thanks!!

It looks as if the phone is branded. Id personally contact the seller to see what he says.

that's what i figured. is there a way to change firmware or something else to get it to look like the normal US/european UI?

You could probably flash it to a Retail or unbranded flex. Is there any physical branding to the phone? Based on pictures, it looks to me like it's branded to Vodafone UK.

nope. no physical branding. it's not vodofone, it's some chinese carrier. would flashing to an unbranded flex put proper icons in there. right now there's basically one folder you can go into and use. 'favorites' it has ringtones, pictures, video, games, and a lot of other stuff that's usually seperated into a few other folders on a normal UI.

Says he bought it unlocked, not unbranded as well.

Looks like you should just flash it.

Wouldnt suggest flashing it, it may go back to the default locked status.
