Motorola L6: any good.

I have seen the Motorola L6 brand new for £70. Why is it so cheap? Is it worth the money or is the SLVR L7 miles better? It does seem to be too cheap. How much video can it a store, bear in mind that it does not have a expandable memory card slot? And what is the screen and camera like compared to the L7. Is the difference massively noticeable.

SLVR is quad-band, although you are in UK, so unless you travel to North America, that isn't an issue.
L6 screen is CSTN 65k colours, L7 screen is TFT 256k colours
L7 has better battery life.

The SLVR is by far a better phone, the L6 is just a Razr bar.

Thanks for that. Also, what is the camera like on the L7. Most phones I see now have 1.3 or more mp camera, but the L7 is listed as 640x480. What exactly does this mean? Isnt this down in quality on other phones?

The L6 is a fine phone, and is also known as the SLVR, despite what others may say. It's a good phone, that does what a typical Motorola phone does. It's comparable to the V600/V551/V505/V300/V330 series (R47, Triplets). They all have a standard featureset that alot of people like, such as the camera, the BT, decent screen, good size, speakerphone, etc.

If you don't need the mp3 player, the L6 is just fine, otherwise, jump to the L7.

The L6 was never known as the SLVR. It is just the same design.

The 640x480 camera refers to the resolution of the pictures that it takes. The pictures will look ok on the phone, but really crappy and small if you put them on your pc.

If you have the money, get the L7.

However, the L7 still has the 640x480 camera? Why is this? Why put such a low quality camera in such a phone? I dont get it. The standard RAZR has 1.3mp.

Posted by: fearthedreadlox

they both have the same 0.3 mp camera, the standard razr dosen't have a 1.3 mp camera i think the v3x does though. If i'm not mistaken they all use the same camera

look at phonescoop tards... the l6 is most DEFINITELY a slvr, and in the slvr series, as the lower end model.

Posted by: rabitootoo

the standard razr has 1.3mp ? i thought only the cdma version does.. and most people own the GSM version..

Posted by: The Mac Ace

v3i has 1.3mp

The V3i and V3c have 1.3MP cameras. V3x has 2MP.

My mistake about the RAZR camera guys. My friend who has had a RAZR for over a year had assured me that it was a 1.3mp camera. Obviously he is wrong.

Anyway, Im a bit stuck now. I really wanted a phone with a decent camera. Can anyone recommend a phone with the functionality of the SLVR but with a decent camera for around the same price?

Motorola L6…it’s a xcellent phone , no problems as such and dose everything asked..though the picture quality is not very good but for this price what else you want……..where as m still not sure how to delete the stupid pictures that come with the phone……..

oops!!! forgot to mention check out some good reviews at http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk

cheers mate. TBH, if the L6 had expandable memory I would have bought one by now. The memory is the main thing that is putting me off, as I want to be able to store decent quality videos. Thats the reason the L7 fits the bill. There are loads of good phones around the price of the L6, all let down by non expandable memory.

The L6 would have been OK if they had put a TFT screen on it like any of their V-series phones in the past two years.

I think u r right the L7 has a Pre-installed 512 MB Micro SD card for extended memory……which wuld certainly fits into ur requirement ……………it also has a VGA Camera with 4x digital zoom, video capture and playback…….this is good but the price is some where around $200 ……

Well, I ended up buying something totally different, I bought a Sony Ericsson K750i. More or less same spec as SLVR but with a 2mp camera. I had a go of the SLVR but TBH, not much really seems to have changed from the RAZR. Anyway, I am pleased with my K750i, and thanks for all the opinions guys.

Congratulations, that's a fine phone.

Yep, it seems good so far, cant fault it at all. Loads more features compared to my old phone.
