Severly disappointed with the Z520a

And I mean severly. The camera button is mega sensitive. And by that I mean if I just grab the phone, it takes a picture. What in the world?

1) Camera button way too sensitive. Taking pictures in my pocket. I was at work it took a picture atleast 3 times while I was around other people. Imagine a shutter sound coming from near the crotch.
2) Even the side button is turning on the camera.
2) Camera sound CANNOT be turned off unless the phone is in silent mode. Point of a phone if it has to be left in silent mode all the time?

Haven't even made one call yet and these problems are cropping up. Sigh.. and i bought it throught letstalk.com too. Biggest mistake so far for 2006.

try exchanging it out for a new one. not every phone has the sensitive camera button. also, make sure you have the new firmware on your phone, there should be a yellow dot on the box and the phone where the battery sits.

I've found that the plastic holsters seem to help shield the camera button a bit and cut down on accidental pics.

I received my Z520a yesterday and the only drawback is the camera button. There is a bit of resistance when I press it, but not nearly as much as the +/- side buttons (those actually give a bit of a "click," whereas the camera button doesn't). I'm somewhat scared of exchanging, since there's no telling what the camera button will be like with the one they (being Cingular) sends me. Advice?

I returned the camera and got a RAZR. Maybe the RAZR has many drawbacks, but atleast the camera button is not so sensitive. I would be some what fine with the z520's camera button, if it wasn't for the shutter noise it makes while taking pictures. That lead to (and could to more) awkward situations.

I got one a few days ago and love it. I have tried to recreate the whole camera button issue but I can not seem to duplicate it, maybe I'm lucky.

The only thing I don't like is that you can not control the ring volume with the outside -/+ buttons, for example if the phone is closed you can not cycle through volume, vibrate, silent modes. Also the speed dial is kinda lame, if you set someone as speed dial number 1-9 you can not hold down that button to call them, you must enter the number example: 5 then press call, but you can hold down 1 for voicemail??????

How sensitive is the camera button on yours compared to the +/- buttons?

I would have to say they are both about the same. It takes a little pressure for all three of them to respond, but not a lot of pressure. It just seems like a normal button press to me.
