SHXCoDec won't start

I have tried many versions of SHXCoDec and have properly installed and registered the midas.dll file. Still everytime I try to open SHXCoDec I get the following error:

SHXCoDec.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

AppName: shxcodec.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 0001eb33

Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? I can run all other modding apps perfectly except this one.

If you have a notebook without COM ports then that's why SHXCodec fails. I have the same problem with it. The last version that works with my computer is 2.47.

My first thought was...I have a desktop PC, not a notebook. But then I remembered disabling my COM ports in my motherboard BIOS. Enabled them and SHXCodec is working.
