ive been looking around for faceplates for the 8260. not alot of options. i like this phone and have almost over a 120 numbers in it. i hate to release it and get a new phone to put themall back in again. i really would like a good faceplate for this phone. i know every mod i can do to it but none of it is worth it without the right faceplate. so my question is, wheres the good sites for 8260 faceplates?

best idea i had was the 8260 ---> 8860 mod.

8860 mod is nice, i would get a new phone. 120 numbers is not bad. Sometimes your provider will transfer them for you

I started a thread which asked about an 8260->8860 body conversion with OEM parts (there's some issue about the seller's rep).

I usually browse ebay for stuff, but I noticed also that there aren't a lot of 8260 stuff anymore (used to be tons of stuff last year).

My buddy bought a 8265 and is quite happy with it. When my 8260 dies on me, I'll either buy a 8265 or if available, buy a 8910!

I think the 8265 is a great phone. As you know, its a updated version of the 8260 with VERY NICE white LED's.

From a pure cool factor I loved the look and feel of my 8860, had two, the original $600 one was stolen and I got another one (was down to $300 by then) But eventualy there were 3 reasons I gave it up 1)Battery life was atrocious 2)The program, no special ring tones no sms etc 3)Reception was very inferior to the 8260.
Thats when I switched to the 8260, which was not great a phone as the 8210, but still the best TDMA phone from a useabiliy standpoint. Have used several more phones looking for combination of cool and features.
Always swore that the 8260 guts in an 8860 would be my ideal phone. Lo and behold it could be done. The only draw back is the reception is split, better than 8860 not quite as good as 8260. I love it and am going to be selling off my V60. Classic good looks with all the features I want. am going to switch the led's t0 white and it will be my perfect phone.

I have an 8260 that ATT will activate if I asked them to, and an 8860 that ATT refuses to activate. How easy would it be to convert the 8260 to a 8860 using the parts I have? Is it possible? Thanks a lot in advance.

Should be able to be done no problem, though it won't be too easy. From what I understand the battery/battery contact mods are the most difficult. I have a 8260-->8860 conversion and it's perfect though. A user on here named aznpharm did it using the info on these pages:

http://www.all4cell.com/modificatio...conversion.html
http://www.all4cell.com/modificatio...onversion2.html

Like I said it came out fantastic. Those pages will tell you how to do it and what parts you need so you will know if you have everything you need before you even start. Good luck!
