which one should I get?

If i get the Cingular 8125, i would be renewing a contract

IF i get the t-mobile mda, i would be getting a brand new contract with familytime

It all depends. If your happy with Cingular and their coverage, stick w/ Cingular. If you hate Cingular and think you might have better coverage with T-Mobile, go with T-Mobile. Overall, I believe the MDA and the 8125 are the exact same thing (correct me if I'm wrong). I personally would get the MDA but that's only because T-Mobile offers service, but barely any here. Plus T-Mo has cheap unlimited data plans than Cingular. Just depends on what's best for you.

t-mobile mda……wuld be a better option…..as far as I consider ….but m a little confused reading this consumer review at amazon “Its cool, but right now a lot of the software out there will not work and will send your unit into an endless reset loop.

take a year and buy this. not now though. i would recommend it. the firmware is terrible”…….it wuld be good if u can put sme light on this issue ……..

Well, when you read the T-Mobile forums and every other post is about the MDA or SDA, you learn a lot.

Well, the MDA is off to a little rough start. Many people have been having problem with the recepetion or just buggy firmware. Some people say their MDAs are working flawlessly. It's basically a hit or miss, you get a working unit that works effortlessly, or you get a dud basically. If you absolutely need the MDA for unit integration, go for it. Just be aware that issues might occur. If you just really want the MDA for internet and e-mail integration, you might be better off just getting a phone with Bluetooth and a good PDA with Bluetooth for sure and maybe WiFi. That way if you have a problem with the phone, you don't lose your life that's on the MDA. That's just my personal opinion. Hope this helps to the original poster!

The phones are nearly identical hardware wise. They have the same guts, but they have slightly different buttons and the keyboards are different. I might suggest checking out the demo units in the stores to see which keyboard you prefer - I have heard it go both ways.

I got the 8125 for a few reasons. I personally prefer the look of the wizard 100 series (Cingular 8125 and Dopod 838). The wizard 200 series (MDA, 9100, K-Jam) is more common (ok, so I don't see them pressed up to everyone's ear walking down the street, but that style is more readily available since its offered by more carriers and also comes in an unlocked/unbranded form).

I prefer the keys on the 8125. They are spaced out and work better for my fat fingers.

I prefer the keyboard of the 8125 because the keys are bigger and again work better for my fat fingers.

As far as software/firmware goes and the problems people are having, take some of that with a grain of salt. The way you use your phone and the applications you install will most likely be unique. You could have problems and it could work just fine but there are no guarantees. I wouldn't say one model has more issues than the other.

Additionally, you could always flash the phone with a different firmware and avoid the extended roms so you can customize the phone a bit more. Just remember, that kind of thing (flashing with a firmware not made for your specific phone) would void your warranty.
