8125 Battery Life.

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I figure myself as a light to moderate user (got the phone for text messaging and PDA functions, use maybe half an hour a day on calls average) and my battery life has been nothing but astonishing.

I'm on the third day of this charge, and the phone still says 61%. I use the phone a lot more on the weekend than during the week, so I figure I could easily attain the 7 day standby time.

How long are people going inbetween charges, and what kind of use are you getting?

Posted by: KikoKazuma

Wow, thats pretty impressive. I would get what you get after a day of using it. However I do like to use wifi, which definitely drains it a lot faster. Battery life on this thing is pretty good.

I can't get more than a day out of mine. How do you guys do it? Do you have bluetooth on all the time? What backlight settings are you using, etc?

Posted by: too.smooth

Same here. I have to charge it every night, otherwise I'd have a dead phone before 10am the next day. At the end of the day, I'm usually down in the 30's.

I have my backlight setting to one notch from "Power Save" and on for 30 secs (just switched it to 10 secs), and Bluetooth on all the time. I'm hardly ever on wi-fi, but do like to mess with the phone alot. And I'm not on the phone all the time either.

Do you folks have, under the power settings, the "turn off device if not used for x minutes" option checked? This can be the only thing I can think of. I have mine off, so maybe that's the culprit.

I pretty much use my 8125 off and on all day long (with Bluetooth) and I can easily get a day and a half before my battery meter starts to run low.

Ditto xbox360gamer. Bluetooth on all the time, wi-fi occasionally, EDGE, cnd PDA stuff...I usually charge every other day. Once, I had a 45 minute phone conversation via Bluetooth, and my battery only fell 4%. If I just used the 8125 as a phone, the battery would probably last about 4-5 days.

After having several different Pocket PCs I must agree. I have told my wife and friends several times how impressed I am with the battery life of my 8125. My bluetooth is on all of the time so I can use my HS850 when a call comes in. My phone did charge for about 30 minutes this afternoon while syncing but has been used for many calls, many push mails, checks POP accounts every 30 minutes, I have written several emails and surfed a couple of web sites and I am still at 82%.

I am impressed and willing to accept a slower processor for enhanced battery life.

I kept all the stock cingular power settings. I use wifi for about 1/2 hour a day tops, typically less. Bluetooth is always off unless I expect to be driving for more than half an hour. As soon as I am done using the phone, I click the top button once so it doesn't do anything while in it's case.

And I used to deal with car batteries at an old job, so I know the merit of charging full before using the device at all, then only charging when the device is low, and never interrupt a charge until it's full unless you have to.

Wirelessly posted (eimajuno's: HTC-8100/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

I can get about 2 days with mine. I do however charge mine every night just in case. I am a pretty heavy text and data user while I do make a fair amount of phone calls however I am never far from a charger. I work in a callphone store plus I have a charger in my car and at my house. never too far from juice for my new toy.

damn i pulled mines off my charger today around 9am and its 10pm and my battery already went down to 50% and i've been sleeping all day... used the phone for agile and medianet for about and hour only... imo this battery is dying quick on me.... does leaving agile signed on and the internet on kill the battery faster?

BT on, wifi used for about 45 min today, 60 min of voice. I'm at 50%. Last charged Saturday night

Let's try this one more time:

Thanks bccass, for answering my question.

I enabled it last night, and the battery drain all but stopped.

My brightness is set one below half and I have the option on to turn the device off if not used for 2 minutes, I was wary about the option until I realized I could still receive calls.

With BT on 24/7, playing games and surfing the internet (with edge everywhere except at home, use wifi at home) along with the many hrs a day I'm on the phone I don't see the battery drop. Before setting the option to turn the phone off the battery would be dead by the time I went to sleep at night... granted I do randomly throughout the day plug it in to sync.

omg...thats nice

then again, my battery life sucked at the beginning, but its able to hold charge for 2 days easily now

well with casual bluetooth and wifi use, fair amount of texting and calling, couple checks of websites or email through edge, and ive only had my phone on the charger 2-3 times in the last 2 weeks...this battery is amazing

Posted by: JeffreyCentex

Here are my results:

Static for both scenarios:
1. Email Checking every 10 minutes between 6AM and 7PM and every hour from 7PM to 6AM.
2. About an hour of google searching.
3. Maybe 30 minutes of phone calls a day.

With the stock Cingular ROM, I would be at about 50% battery life 24 hours after I unplugged it from the charger. (this taken with about 2 weeks of cycles to condition the battery).

With the Qtek AKU2 Test ROM, I would be at about 70% battery life in the same period of time.

With the IMate AKU Final ROM, I now am at about 80% battery life (drain of 20% a day). I easily went three and a half days this past weekend without a charge (I was at 15% at that point).

Well I have had mine and i MAYBE fully charge my battery once a week with an occasional (1 or 2 times) refresh of battery in the car for maybe 20 minutes. i don't remember the last time i fully charge my battery i think last weekend and i've charged it maybe for a total of 40 minutes over the last week or so, and i'm still at like 50% I dont' have bluetooth on all the time and i'm not on the phone all the time but I do play with it a lot and i do use edge quite a bit and i had wireless on for like 2 hours yesterday

Do any of you guys overclock your phone? I'd like to hear some real life statistics of an overclocked phone.

I, too was wary of the option. I've been using it since last night and so far, so good. The only difference is pressing the power button to wake it up. I like it! After sitting on the charger until this morning, BT on 24/7, messing w/iGuidance and BT GPS, light phone/text/IE usage, I'm at 80%...and it's almost 6:30pm here. Before enabling the option, I'd be at 40-45%.

This is very interesting.
