I saw an ebay auction for a new 8860 (the guy has tons of them) which can no longer be used for whatever reason, and he's selling them as 8260-8860 conversion kits. I love my 8260 and will keep it as long as I can, but have always loved the 8860. Is the conversion a simple drop in conversion, or will I have to make all sort of custom modifications to the 8860 housing to fit my 8260? I know how to open up my 8260, but I don't know how to do any soldering or anything like that.

Has anybody done one of these conversions? Will the performance of the 8260 be the same or will it be worsened by the 8860 housing (my friends with 8860 complain about reception all the time)?
