Razr V3c voice record resets phone?

Just picked up a V3c last week and I've got a problem thats confusing me. Voice record seems to reset my phone no matter what I do. If I hold down the voice command button like the book says the screen starts up with the 'Recording 0:00' page but the clock doesn't start counting. (I'm holding the button down) The phone at this point is completely locked up. No buttons work. About 30 seconds later it seems to reset back to the main screen. (The signal meter takes a second to kick in as if its acking with the tower so it seems like a reset of some kind) No memo is recorded.
It does the same thing if I go to Voice Record from the Tools menu too.
Several other guys in my office got the same phone on the same day (same firmware, no hacks) and theirs work fine.
Any ideas?
