Sharp 770SH Pictures

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

New pictures of the Sharp 770SH have surfaced, funnily enough it looks a lot like the 550SH and probably is the same spec, except for being a clamshell. Here are the pics:

It looks like this phone could replace the 703SH, although I don't like the fact that the dedicated clear key in the keypad is replaced with a video call one. I think I delete characters a lot more often than make video calls. Very silly decision there.

that's quite a hot design

why are all of Sharp's external displays so small?

Posted by: simony

is it Japanese OS compatible?
that's all i care

Japanese OS compatible? Eh?

The phone has shown up at Sharp's CeBIT booth, and some details have come along with it:

* Dimpled plastic casing
* Stainless steel keypad (yes, too much RAZR copying methinks)
* 3G & triband GSM
* 2.2 inch QVGA Mobile ASV LCD
* 1.3 megapixel CMOS camera
* microSD memory card slot
* Bluetooth
* Same UI as the GX40 (which was derived from the 703SH)

Is this true? I've always been curious about this: Does Sharp design their phones, or does Vodafone hire some kind of designer?

The reason I'm curious is because if you look at DoCoMo's latest Sharp (SH902i), I'd say it is *MUCH* nicer than the 904SH. So who takes care of that? I don't think Sharp themselves would only design nice phones for one company and just so-so phones for the other, cause they want ALL of their phones to sell.

No the operators don't have a say in the design, I don't think. The operator will just tell them to have certain things that the phone should be capable of, but the design will be left up to them.

Having said that, in Sharp's case there are different departments, completely separate from each other, that create phones for DoCoMo and then for Vodafone. I read in an interview with one of their employees once that they work on separate floors for example. That's why the designs would be so different.

Wow. Different floors? Maybe one of the Voda designers should take a little trip in the elevator to see what the DoCoMo guys are up to every once in a while so they can take a hint as to what a good design looks like.

Yup, it certainly wouldn't hurt them
