crispyusctech,

It does not matter if you have Diego, Phoenix, or even a PKD-1RD R&D dongle! The key is held in the MCU and PRI files themselves! Assuming you are referring to USCS, if USCS has request Nokia to cripple the capability, it will be done with the file. There will be no more toggle / option in the list anymore!

There is, however, an alternative way to try... Use the MobiMB, put your desired tune into the built-in "default ringtones" folder. I have not tried it with larger MP3 files but smaller MIDI files definitely works.

Are you using nokia pc suite?

DJB00TS,

This topic is beyond the capability of Nokia PC Suite, which is designed for end-users. The things we are talking about here is at the firmware level. If the PRI has the feature disabled, then Nokia PC Suite will not work. The worst is that, if carriers ask Nokia to take the feature away in the PRI, then not even the Nokia service programs can do anything.

Are you referring to the "Default tones" folder? I have a 6256i and a registered version of MobiMB but *cannot* alter or change anything in that folder, no way and no how. In fact, I have been unable to even delete the tones in that folder.

The most I've been able to do is to copy some of the built-in ringtones from the default tones folder to my PC. I have tried simply renaming the tones and then moving them back to the default tones folder but even that doesn't work.

Take a look at the following post (it contains a screenshot of Diego):

http://www.howardforums.com/showpos...746&postcount=1

Are you seeing the same icons along the *left side* of your screen in Diego? If not, then something is seriously screwed up. If you are, then you should be able to click "Phone Settings" and then the "Read ALL from phone" button on the right side of the screen.

Nope after read all there is no Menu and User Settings on the left just the phone service settings, thats what i dont get, i have 2 diff versions, 2 diff comps only thing i can think is the phone, has any usc customers succesfuly completed this task

Are there different dongles for different settings, hmmm mabey? i use the dongles not the hacks, currently using pkd-1

Well, I suppose that certainly *is* a possibility. Actually, maybe more than a possibility because, yes, apparently a bunch of USCC customers who have 6255i's have been able to change settings using Diego.

PriusChat / crispyusctech,

I have been using the registered MobiMB (and now Pro Suite) too. I have found that some Nokia CDMA models can only MIDI files can be manipulated in the built-in default tone folder and the numbers of files as well as file size itself also have the limit. I cannot make any MP3, AMR file to work.

Also, try to play around with the profile file in the nokia.ini. It is located at \Program Files\Common Files\LogoManager...

1. Add a new model profile for 6255i / 6256i,

[RM-19]
Profile = D4C
Polyphonic = 24

2. Then scroll down, appned an extra line of settings to the D4C template...

CustomFolder1 = FileTransfer.NkFSItem:A|

3. Save the changes to the Nokia.ini file and re-run the program. You should a new folder, Permanate Memory when open the MobiMB. Explore from there.

4. IF you are still out of luck, email Mike Bradley at LogoManager. He has been very kind to me over the years. Pointing me with the right direction whenver his creation cannot do the thing I want. He would troubleshoot with you and may end up with a revision / addition to the program.

Regarding the Diego (I am using the v3.06), if you have a different read-outs in the left pane than the screenshots, meaning the PRI file in your handset itself is different from others. Also, the PKD-1 may not see certain things reserved for PKD-1RD. The crack that has been passing left and right is a R&D crack.

The bottomline: We may need to find another way to beat the system if some carriers have request Nokia to cripple features like we want. Another good example is the 6265i slider... the newer firmware that I have tried, there will be no more tone assigned off the MiniSD card and there is no such toggle item in the list

Thanks for the tips. However, I modified my Nokia.ini file quite some time ago. I can see the Permanent_memory folder in Mobi but, again, can't do a whole heck of a lot with it, at least nothing that would have any effect on the Default tones that seem to be virtually welded onto the phone.

FWIW, the files in the Default tones folder appear to be MIDIs. As I stated earlier, the only thing I can do is copy the tones from within Mobi and then paste them into a folder on my PC. When I explore their properties, they all have the .mid extension but (and this is strange) the filename is followed by *two* dots (e.g. Nokia tune..mid).

DJB00TS,

You will not be the only one as some CDMA carriers out there would not cripple this and that! And, even some carriers have request Nokia to cripple certain things, there could be workarounds if the MCU or PRI have been so generic (e.g. Camera Shutter Sound toggle menu can be enabled in the PRI, Start up op logo can be altered, customized menu can be reverted back to default, etc.).

For many other things, I do not use PC Suite anyway. There are better alternatives like MobiMB or Oxygen Phone Manager.
