hi i just got the sky imu100 phone and i cant figure out how to send mp3s to this phone does anyone know how i can do this any help will be appricated i try to use melon player but it wont see my phone

How did you guys get it to activate on VZW? Did you guys buy it from a dealer in Korea Town? I'm pretty sure the ESN Changer won't work for that...

i know how to put mp3s on u100... but you need an memory card adaptor for ur computer. ill tell you how to do it if you tell me how to put ringtones on it... lol

ringtones are impossible, unless you hack into it. there is hack out but too risky and dont want to ruin my phone .

i figured out to put ringtones onto the phone~ finally.. but now i have another problem lol~~

i tried to put images on my phone and the only format it read is jpeg... but... some jpegs work and some dont... wut to do??

Ok maybe yall can help me out then. I live in Kore and use a SKY IM-S110 and need to know what format I need to have MP3 to work on it nad ringtones as well. I kow I can use the Melon player but I just hate doing it that way there has to be away around it.
Also Do youknow if there is a conversion program that will convert a AVi file to .skm cause that is what my movie player plays. I have tried to ask SKY here but they dont speak much english and they arent to happy about helping me find ways around it. I would look on the Korean web sites but since I dont speak read and speak it well enough to understand everything I am LOST
Share and I will share alike.
When I get home from work I will put up a link for a program that could help you with movies but I dont understand it and maybe you can help.

Oh I have a 1gig micro SD in my phone as well. When I take movies the are saved as .skm files but when I MMS them they are in AVI format but I cant play the AVI format once it is off the phone.

there is some kind of way to hack into your phone by using the data manager link cord. i can tell you step by step on messenger or something.

Well I figured out how to transfer a movie with full sound to my phone but it works sometimes and others it doesnt. I use a mac and Win XP so I did this on my mac and it was easy. I loaded the Avi file or Divx into quicktime pro and then converted it to 3pg then I just changed the .3pg to .skm and it worked great with some and others not so well. But it is a start.

As for hacking into it I am not great with computers so I dont know if I could hack into it and still make it work. I would like to hear step by step how to get ringtones and things to work though. I use AOl messanger mostly and I am not sure when your on and I am on due to a huge time difference.

I would love to hear what you can do for me or send it in an email to needavacationteacher(at) yahoo(dot) com

question! for those of you that have the sky im-u100, and that lives in so. cal. where did you buy it? did you have to agree to a 2-year activation? the problem is that i already have verizon, my parents pay for the bill, so it's not up to me to extend 2 more years. that's why i just want the phone, but i have called this one place, OK cellular, but the amount was OUTRAGEOUS, they said it would be $600 w/o activation agreement. do you know any other places? anyone? please respond. thanks so much!

OK as for putting the file into a movie. Well You can't load it directly to your phone the way I am doing this so I cant make it a ring or that but Maybe if you hacked around it you could get it to.
I convert an AVI to .3pg then I just change the >3pg to .skm and say yes when my computer says changing this may cause it not to open in the original program. I then move the file onto the my micro SD card in the Movie folder it has worked great for all the Avi's I have converted. I use quicktime pro to convert these and they see great. I mean a 700MB movie down into 49MB and it is clear as it could be. So now that I shared the way I got mine to work the MP# would be helpful. THanks. I am trying to get it to work where I can load directly on the phone but it is in Korean and still trying to figure it out with some help.

well im still looking for cracked data manager for im-u100... the one i have doesnt work for u100

for the person looking for the im-u100 in cali... umm i have no idea, i live in canada. my advice is to get a korean friend to order you one from the internet. for example www.auction.co.kr. its a ebay type site whre you bid but its a lot cheaper if you buy the used ones... some of the phones on that site are sold for parts... this happens when ppl in korea dont pay the cell phone bill and the company disactivates the phone from ever being used in korea. but you can still use it esle where. its going to cost a lot less than 600 bucks american.

im not sure but my friend told me about this place here that has im-u100s for like 400 canadian... but im not sure if its true or if its 400... so... if you are intereseted ill follow up on it and get you one....

For the other people asking, SKY phones are all CDMA (by Pantech). They don't work with T-Mobile or Cingular. They work with Verizon (if you can find someone who can slip the activation through- it's hard these days) or maybe Alltel/other CDMA providers (except for Sprint- they don't allow non-Sprint phones to be activated).

I am also looking for the MP3 software. I can get the USB driver from the sky korea website but they are picky about having your id number match who registered the phone here in Korea but the MP3 software would be great.. When I get the USB installed ( I am lazy right now) I will post it where yall can get it.

My friend just got a Sky IM-U130 and has Verizon Wireless. I have a razr and Cingular. I'm trying to send her ringtones via bluetooth, but her phone says that bluetooth is idle. what's going on and how can i send her ringtones?

but seriously folks. how the hell are we music lovers supposed to get mp3's onto our SKY phones>? I am in SK and have a SKY IM-S110. Its no problem getting the usb drivers and datamanager working, I can get everything off my phone onto the computer. I can put pics onto my phone (when they are in specific resolutions) and I can even get video's onto my phone using the method described in this post (convert to .3gp and rename to .skm and copy onto memory stick via card reader) When it comes to MP3's...nothing. I have managed to get so far as a .dcf converted mp3 through melon recognized on my phone, but after having an error message translated for me was told that 'i did not have permission to play the file'. WTF? So i would like to pose the question yet again. How can I get MY mp3's onto my SKY phone? I refuse to download garbage music from the melon service. Any help would be much appreciated.

FreeMelon (NoActivation) the Order of installation - we put itself Melon, then unpack 1_actskn43 in a folder %system the catalogue %/system32. Then unpack 3_FreeMelon_Lang_EN in folder Melon. System date at me translates for November, 2004, and after end restores.

ok sending mp3s to the phone is a little hard now since SK Telecom made it so u had to pay to send ur own mp3s to the phone -_- but korean hackers have fixed that so im gona post it here for u guys ^^

ok first thing u will need is melon player

www.melon.co.kr (u must use IE for this site ya i know it sucks -.-)

1.

2.after u click that then click melon player download Download the program and install it it will be in korean so if you dont have korean fonts u will see all giberish or boxes so just ignore that

3.Open Melon Player
The first time you open the program you will get an upgrade screen just let it do its update

4. Sign in
you may use my ID and PW since thats all i use this program for anyway
user id darkshadow849
password leejiyeon

5. ok now that we are logged in you should see this screen

6. ok now to send mp3s to the phone (before melon did the gay *** update you used to be able to send mp3s to the phone for free but now they want out money -.-' THANK U HACKERS ^^)

ok next go to
http://newgifted.tistory.com/ ( i hope u have korean fonts -.-')

then also click here

and next scroll down the page and click "release.zip" and download it to your computer

7. ok now that we got melon sniper its time to start sending mp3s

now open my computer and go to
C:\Program Files\MelOn Player

drag and drop those 2 files in the zip file here in this folder

8. ok first make sure u openend melon player and signed in with my id and got the screen i showed u in step 2 next open melon sniper

ok after u click ok u will see another screen like this

after you click ok on the screen another one will come up click ok then the same screen we saw before will come up again this time just click cancel thats the button next to OK or what i showed u to click in the pics above if it keeps coming up go to melon sniper and click the stop button next to the play button

ok now send the mp3s to your phone maximize the melon window

and thats it i hope this helps you all if u cant get drivers just say so here and ill post how to do it here later on ill post how to do movies and ringtones ^^

I tried but the FreeMelon(no activation).exe file can not be read.. the other two are functioning but useless since i cant run the main exe file. I tried to download it several times and each time the main freemelon.exe failed to read the file. Can you re up it?

In the meanwhile im trying the other guys method out..will post back when any results are in

In shadows method i got so far as being logged into melon and loading an mp3 with sinper when i loaded the same song on melon and clicked okay i go what seems to be an error screen. X through the melon logo and first words being DCF 'codec' (i can read korean .. only understand when its english words though) Im guessing i am lacking a dcf codec so it is not going through with the process...what to do..

Ok, regarding my last post... this is my first time every typing korean so this took a while to type up..but this is the message that comes up when i complete the steps shown in step5jj3.jpg :

DCF 코덱의 특성상 가변질(VBR) 방식으로 인코딩 된 MP3는 변환이 불가능합니다. 고정음질(CBR)로 인코딩 된 MP3만 변환 가능합니다. 가변음질, 고정음질에 대한 설명은 FAQ를 참고하세요.

Am i correct in assuming this is a codec issue that is the problem..if so where can i get a 'dcf codec'?

no u cant send mp3s to the phone that have a VBR they must have a normal bitrate like 192kbs it means the song u have has a bitrate that is jumping around from 128 to 320 try and mp3 converter to change ur bitrate to normal i also had this problem

btw thank you both sooo much for your help...shadow those are some badass instructions that were so easy to follow...i couldnt have asked for more...well except for me not to get some other error... just my luck to have some bs codec issue to interfere..if that truly is what it is.

thats nice to hear because i was having no luck finding a dcf codec...lol. You are the best!! I tried a few random tracks (because im not sure how to tell if a song is vbr or cbr) and got to the next stage..i now have afile in my playlist "my trax" but its so late here and im to tired to try and figure out how to get it on my phone. I have my phones usb cables and a datamanager program that reads it fine etc...but i cant seem to see my phone in the melon program... thanks so much for the help. I'll be back on this as soon as i get home tomorrow.

getting them on the phone..the last step in your instructions i dont really follow...i clicked there "my playlist" and there is the one file that i converted/copied...but where do i drag/drop it to..my phone? where should my phone be represented in this picture..and why isnt it if it does have usb drivers installed and is read by the datamanager program etc....sooo close now...

the phone drivers are fully installed and showing in three different catagories in device manager... Modem/Port/USB but for some reason i see no sign of my phone in the mellon program. What am I missing?

Just an update, although shadow went out of his way to offer all the help he could...his method seems to not be a working one because of the melon software having issues in recognizing your phone.

I would love to try that freemelon out but the link posted and any subsequent copy that i have managed to get my hands on has an error when trying to run the exe

Hello there , i have a problem
just have an sky im-u100 but no charger
but i have some old LG charger wich i can plug in the slot of the phone without problems
but the thing is,,the pins are on other place

so could anyone tell me on wich positions have to put in the (+) and (-) pins?

answer would be cool

btw do anyone know what volts i need?

maybe "3,6V ,600mA" ??

already checked some pinout pages but nothing exactly found..just know its an 24pin charger!
