Hi all,
I was wonderin how one would go about changin the alert tone for incomin emails on the 9300? I've just recently purchased one and among other shortcomings I cannot seem to find where the tone can be changed...
Has any one done that already or is the default two-beep alert the only option (unchangable?) on the phone? this alert reminds me of the CO2 detector alarm sound in my house..needless to say i want to get rid of it asap...
if someone has been able to change this plz let me kno
runnin fw 4.53(0)

Hey bunny, did you ever get an answer to this? Is there any kind of visual notification for new email on the phone screen, ie when the phone is closed?

nope, never did get an answer sadly, and now my 9300 is shalved awaitin a buyer so I guess i lost interest in finding the answer for myself...
when u get a mail there is an icon that appears on the outter screen, but there is not a flashin LED or anythin like that, combined with the lack of a vibe alert and it becomes a hassle to kno when u have mail or not...since i'm a student an in class most of the time i cant jus keep checkin my phone screen for mails so this phone doesnt work for me right now.

i didnt see an email only notification because i dont think the built in email client can pull email automatically. did you try changing any of the normal alerts by editing the profile? If you picked up a third party software (always on or seven email) thats made for the 9XXX series it might offer the customization. I

I am/was using Seven Always On Mail right now, which is a wicked program btw. I've used it extensively on a number of devices and its great imo, check my sig for info on where to get a trial of the program, great for push mail!
despite it being a 3rd party program ther is still no way to set your own ringtone for incomin email alerts...on a so called "business" device/tool
this is a complete joke...just think, if ur a business person and the only alert u have is one that resembles that of a smoke/CO2 detector alarm (at least in my house)...what a shame...your options are this or dead silence for alerts...pretty weak i think for a device in this class...

While this is a round-about way of doing it, did it ever occur to you to search through the various folders for the sound file that makes that annoying noise, and simply replace that file with the one that you want to use?

definitely crossed my mind at one point but the hassle stopped me short...given that I'm havin like 3 diff phones at any given time i dont see the need to put up with one that doesnt suit me in anyway. but thank you for your suggestion maybe some others out there will use this workaround if its possible, I'm not sure about deletin the default ringtones on the phone.
its actually a good phone, but it doesnt suit me i guess...

You don't have to delete it, just rename the original file or move it to a temp folder so you can put it back if you decide to.

hey Eric can you post steps on how to do just that?? I just got mine the other day and I would hate to screw something up

my 9300b is unlocked on t-mo. I use BB connect and have no trouble hearing any e mail alert I want to use, currently frogs croaking.lol. I get the @ symbol when I have email as well as the alert. No vibe feature, but I`ve got used to that. This phone`s a bit of a heavy brick, but I love it`s form factor.

This is prob a redudant question but here goes nothing. I have an internet media max package which I pay like 30 a month which includes text messages and mms. I would not want to loose them for trade to get the blackberry service. Can someone please tell me if there is anyway I can use the media net to use the black berry service or if I will be looking at an extra black berry fee. I just need a notification of when I have email and it seems that blackberry is the only way to get this feature stock on the phone. If possible please help. I just dont feel the need to to pay for two services. Does the blackberry service include the same extras as the mediamax such as text messages and mms???
