Any ideas to make games in 128x160 rezolution?

Posted by: maksimus

I have motorola SLVR-L6. My friend send me some games in .jar and .jad files working on his SLVR-L7. SLVR-L7 display is 176x120, SLVR-L6 display is 128x160, and when i install those games into my SLVR-L6, i could see only the part of game (not full screen).
Is there a way to edit those games and make them to fit in 128x160 display??

When I had my V710, I simply got a card reader, then plugged that in to the comp with the Transflash card in it, and put the ringtones that I made(mp3) on the card, then transfered them to the phone from the card. Then you have to know the mms trick to "apply as ringtones". Don't know if that trick works on the V3i.....heard some say it does, some say it doesn't.

Posted by: neo2040

Thanks for all the help Metalliholic

Posted by: metalliholic

Hope it helped.......let me know if it works. You know the mms trick, I assume? Yeah, you probably know by now that you can't use mp3's as ringtones from the card......they have to be in the phone's memory. If the mms trick doesn't work, use Motorola Phone Tools to put them on the phone. You can get it with a cable for about $15 on Ebay. I did, and it's really simple.

hey hey hey now.. can somebody tell me the "mms trick"????
It's kind of stupid how if I want the beginning of a song as my ringtone, I have to have a cut version and the full version on the song on there. Well I dont' have to have to full one but you know. If you can't tell me here then please message it to me?

I don't know your phone, but on my V710, I'd get the mp3 clip on my Transflash card, put it the phone then switch storage device to the transflash card, select the clip I wanted, press menu->send in message-> to "any email address or phone #".(I didn't have the mm message message service so any address or # would work, and, of course, it would fail. After it fails(or even if it doesn't, in case you have the service) it will be in your outbox. Select it, and it may have an option to "read" or "play" . Either way, you select which ever one it is.It should start playing........and then(it's been a while, so bear with me), while it's playing, I believe you can hit menu again, and there will be an option to "save" or "store".....and when you press that, I think then there is the "apply as ringtone" option. I may be a little off on the order, since it's been a while since I did it. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.Oh, it seems to me that you could put the whole song in as a ringtone, and it would just cut it off at about 18-20 seconds anyway, before going to voicemail, but then maybe you'd have to have it in both places if it was an mp3 that you simply liked to listen to in its entirety.

Posted by: honkey

hmm, I'm tempted to try that but, does it cost anything to send though? Even if it's to myself?

Posted by: metalliholic

Well, if you don't have that service, it will fail anyway, but it still gets it in your outbox. It couldn't be very much if you did get charged, but, I don't know your phone or service. Hope it works.

Posted by: honkey

hmm, I don't know if I should risk it or not :P. I think I have that service, but if it fails does it cost anything?

Posted by: metalliholic

Well, if your phone has an email address, you might try emailing the clip from your comp to your phone. Different providers have different limits on file sizes as attachments, and what types of files, etc., but, it's worth a try. I know that the mp3 clips I have done for tones are not very big files, as I rip them down to 16 or 24 bit mono, then cut a 20 second clip out of them, and so they are pretty small files. I couldn't do that with my provider with simply an email address for my phone, but a friend of mine could. Matter of fact, I emailed him a mp3 clip right to his phone, and when he got it, he simply selected the clip, and "saved as ringtone". Oh, and , if you have that service, it won't fail...........I'm guessing it will go through, and come back to you??? But, it will still be in your outbox, to try the rest of the "trick"

Posted by: honkey

Hmm, I don't know if I want to try it or not. I just don't want to get charged, I mean it's not a HUGE deal that I have a ringtone and the full song, it's just kinda weird.

Posted by: amiga500

2 maksimus res128x160 and other
You can try change resolution with FullJava 1.5
I have it used with my old C650 and its working. You can in the "Option" change
resolution to 128x160 and then try, remember uncheck "Suggest uploading via Midway".

Sorry for my english

Posted by: mldennishf

Is there a way to run this program in English. I only find it in Russian.

Why don't you describe the bluetooth method of putting games onto a Motorola phone? Perhaps it would encourage others to switch from cable to bluetooth.

I've been going crazy searching forums for two weeks to find a way for increasing the number of recent calls for my SLVR from the lame max of 10. I read somewhere that it's coded into the firmware and there is absolutely no way to change it.
There has got to be a way to do it. I've xlr8's map to change the following sucesfully[bit 5: Items Displayed in Recent Calls > Dialed Calls (1 to display only most recent call to same number, 0 to display all calls to the same number)], and they mention in there that seems 0038 and 0039 store the actual recent phone #s, but I couldn't find anything on increasing the numer of entries. Can you pleeeeese help????????? I'm amazed I haven't found anything on doing this yet.

Are .jad/.jar games compatible with the Motorola E815?

.jad/.jar files are Java, is Java supported by the Motorola E815, or is Java support just disabled by Verizon?

Also, what are BREW format & apps?

Looked through all the forums I could find, still unsure.

Thanks

Posted by: jakestaby

Has anyone had any luck doing this with a RAZR v3c? Mine says unknown platform, could not connect. When I tried to do it using Midway and PST Phone Programmer, it says that it is suspending my phone and I have to remove the battery to get it back up. Any ideas?

can someone help me my l7 is not getting detected i have installed all the drivers and the motomidman but the frigging phone isn't detected

this is an installing GAMES article everybody not everything else please find the correct article for you questions

Posted by: m_shafkat@hotma

so wheres the new guide sharky?

Posted by: Akanaz

so far, when I hooked up a V3c to any phone tools, all I could do was edit phone book and calender, for some reason verizon don't have thier phones enabled to do much of anything. Its a nice phone, the gun metal look, the keypad has one less button to press then the V3, it also dosen't have a simcard, that makes it impossible to switch phone to phone with a switch of a simcard, I wonder what happens when you want to get a new phone and still either keep or sell your old phone?

Posted by: Akanaz

found this link in here for the V3c, http://www.v710.org/mark/

Posted by: Darkwun

just to make life easier d/l Motomidmanager v0.38 and it allows you install jar files directly to phone or mem card as it creates the .jad file on the spot then installs it into the phone

Posted by: chillbill

I was wondering if the new guide is coming any time soon? I know how to mod Nextels, but I just got a RAZR with Cingular, and have no idea how to add games, or even what setting the games need to have. I've tried motomidman, but i says unsupported platform. If someone can point my in the right direction for another program to use, and some settings needed for games, and tones I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Chill

Well I start out looking at the first page of this topic, thinking I am going to learn how to install some java games.... that took about 2 seconds to realize it was incomplete and I am now about to spend another night of wading through a massive topic only to get myself more confused and leave more ignorant than had I just not bothered.

There is a wealth of information around this place for sure, but my GOD these topics are a mess. Why am I reading about ringtones and mp3's all of a sudden in this topic.....

SNAFU.....

isnt it easier to drop some games into the transflash card?

Hey I'm trying to install the P2k drivers to get my V361 installed and the first time the detected new hardware comes up it accepts the drivers fine, and then the box comes up again and when I go to select the same driver, it says it cannot find the driver needed.

Please let me know,
Thanks

MotoMidMan does not support my platform (razr 3v).

I added the games into the phone using P2K Phone File Manager but the phone will not read them.

HOw can I make them show up? Either that or make MotoMidMan support my Platform.

I had the same problem as you with my razr v3. I figured it out!! I'll try to explain it as simple as possible. Here it goes.

NOTE: I will not provide download links because I would be in violation of the rules of this forum. I will only provide a link to a site to read more info on that certain program. NO direct download links will be displayed here. If you want a program, Send me a Private message & we'll see what we can do.

Ok, now . . .

I use four programs for everything, depending on what I want to do.
Read on whatever one you want to use with your razr.

NOTE: everything I do with my razr, i do via USB cable.

1. Motorola Phone Tools: To synchronize my phone with my PC and backing up all the contacts, calendar, etc. Also, to add mp3 ringtones.

2. P2K Tools: To add files directly into phone and install games.

3. Knapster's Skinner4Moto: To add, edit and create custom made skins.

4. iTunes: To convert my waves into mp3 format and add them as ringtones using Motorola phone tools.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
1. Motorola Phone Tools: Automatic installation with cd. This will install all the necessary Drivers that you will need for all the programs I mention below. That is why I installed this one first. If you dont use this program, you will need to have the standalone drivers handy when you connect your phone to the computer via USB.

DO NOT hook up phone to computer. First install. Then run program and connect phone when instructed. After that . . . have fun backing up all your files! Next time your razr gets stolen, you wont have to lose everything.

The ringtone maker is the best I have seen! I made all my favorite songs and even my daughters crying into a ringtone. It only requires the file in mp3 format. See below for mp3 converting info.

General Info:
http://direct.motorola.com/hellomot..._PhoneTools.asp

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
2. P2K Tools Version 0.8.6:

I couldn't get it to work because I had my phone plugged in! First start the program, then plugin the phone. It should say your connected and have a green circle showing at the bottom left of the program window.

SEcond thing I did wrong before, I thought it wasnt reading my phone because it didn't show anything. YOU MUST refresh each category on the left for the info to show. (refresh each individually; File Manager, KJava, p2kInfo, etc)

To add a game: Start program. Then, connect phone. When your phone is connected, Go to the KJava tab on the left. REFRESH the page. It will then show any games intalled in your phone. To delete any, select it, and click Uninstall. To add a game choose Install.
You will then be prompted to find the jar file you want to add. Find and select the game jar file you want to add (you do not need to have the jad file). It will then install it. Install all the games you want to add. When you are done, Restart your phone and you're set!

WARNING! If you add mods (modifications) to your phone's system directly, it will no longer be covered by the warranty! Mods are for those that dont have the warranty. If you have warranty. Don't mess with the original files, you can only use the install/remove games feature in this program I think

(if you're a pro at the warranty legalities, please enlighten us in this matter. I might be wrong, so I just decided not to take a chance. I dont really apply mods)

3. Knapster's Skinner4Moto:
Simply install and use. First time started, you must go into options and choose your phone model. Go into website to find out if your phone is compatible. My razr is.

Home Page 4 more info:
http://www.knapster.de/skinner4moto...er/skinner.html

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
4. iTunes: This is a free program. MOst people think its only for iPods or the newest phones that come equipped to handle iTunes. My 3v razr is not compatible for playing music like that but I use this as an MP3 converter. It is free! Why pay for a converter?

Ok. WHen you install the program, it is by default set to convert any/all music into the iTunes extention (acc I think its called). Go to Edit>Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. Under Importing, choose import using MP3 encoder. Have the setting to 128kbps or 192kbps. Click OK.

Now view any songs you have in iTunes. Right click the desired song and choose, "convert selection to mp3" and WALLA!

Hope this helps.

I'm having this same error using motomidman with my v557, and p2k tools don't work either. and I think that it is because unlike the v3, the v557 has an a\ and a c\ but I could be mistaken.

Any ideas of how I could get my games on my phone? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to pm me or email me.

Thanks a million!!!

Ok im confused
do i have to install P2k drivers if I installed the Moto Phone TOols from the CD I have?

I mean sometimes when i plug it it says new hardware, sometimes a removable drive comes up...

Posted by: Thanontos

YES intall the p2kdrivers. It is easy to extrat them to a folder on your desktop, that way when it says new hardware found just select you want to manually choose the drivers or whatever, then just keep selecting the folder on your desktop. I know for my phone, a new hardware found thing keep showing for about 3-4 times. SO keep doind it untill it doesnt say found new hardware and then open moble phone tools you should be set.

HELP ME

Yes I have the same problem as blk dragon. I do have a V557 and downloaded moto midman .38 is I beleive what I am using. Under the log it detects my phone and continues through some seem cheeks but I get a FAILED when it reaches J2MEST and then an error message says PLATFORM UNSUPPORTED. Am I doing something wrong. I tried clicking enable java loader and Motomid restarted my phone when I asked it too, but no other functions will appear the buttons stay grayed out. It detects my IMEI number too.

ANyone know a way to bypass the check for J2Mest or add it somewhere to FORCE that it is supported. Anyhelp would be appreciated. Again this is for the V557 regular. I have 2 buttons, one below the volume and one on the otherside, but neither gives me an option for PTT. Nor in my phone settings can I enable it, so I assume it is a regular V557.

I have found that this is much easierr to do if u use p2k tools and you use kjava and just install the games with no java app loader and no installing MUCH EASIER! search google there is a tutorial around.

I never did see an answer to above or others I'm interested in. I'm moving from Cingular Blue 3x V551s to Verizon. I'm favoring the E815 over V3c (or m if it comes out in few weeks). As a result, I'm looking for info about each phone, and what I'm in for (lost functionality as compared to V551).

Questions:
- Did Verizon disable any functionality on these Moto phones ?
- If so, how will it impact my ability to backup/copy files or edit seems (using MPT, P2K, etc.) and is there a way to overcome it ? I'll do minor mods; must be able to backup phonebook, pictures, videos direct to PC; and will add a few games, pictures and mp3.

lobsterboy58: PhoneScoop says no in phone info, with BREW description here: http://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?fid=53

Posted by: blk_dragon2004

Yes, verizon disables tons of things on there motorola handsets. Java is one of them, and that drives me crazy. Most of the other things that they disable you might be able to work around with some seem edits. You should look a little furthur in the moto modding section of hofo for details on that.

And truthfully, asking detailed information on these verizon phones should not be in this thread for installing games. The info you want is out there. Try using a search on hofo or google or phonescoop or hellomoto

Thanks for the info, and pointing out thread subject/purpose. Sorry, it's Friday afternoon and I was wandering off subject in a similar way as my work day is going . . .

Was java disabled by Verison, or did the Moto never provide it ? The disablement of any technology is infuriating - why would they disable any functions . . . they should focus on adding value.

Hi all. I have been reading thur this and my head is gonna explode! Are you people telling me that I can use the software at the 1st post to get brew or Java games on my Verizon V3C phone? Thanks!

Posted by: HoBBLe_CooKiE

does anyone know of a great site for JAR and JAD files? I have a site: www.getjar.com but any other sites will be usefull as well. thanks!

Posted by: blk_dragon2004

Verizon purposefully has moto remove the java environment from the phones. this way you have to pay to play games, or at least use the internet, and you pay for that too. Honestly, I can't stand CDMA networks and the wireless providers that support those networks. GSM phones are much easier to modify and customize, oh, and it's easier to flip back and forth between handsets with SIM Cards. I cancelled on Verizon over 5 years ago, and they have yet to give me a reason to come back.

HoBBLe- use the browser on your phone to go to www.surrealnetworks.com

This wap site has some cool games, ringtones, and videos. And the host accepts donations of games and things that aren't on his site. Some of my games are posted on his site.

(3) Jad Creator --> http://www.viceking.net/images/moto...adcreator13.zip

***These links are different to the one in the guide...these actually work***

you cant send java games over bluetooth, because your moto needs to have them be installed, this is done by midway or other applications. writing a program would be impossible as well because you cant get raw access to the phone's file system over bluetooth, which is probably a good thing, nothing like having some one F*ck up your phone as soon as you walk by.

Yes you can send games through Bluetooth as well as put them on you TF card and install them that way I do this all the time. You can't do things like edit seems, access the file system, install skins, and complex features like that.

For all the Verizon V3c members that posted in the thread your phone uses BREW and will not work with Java. You have to pay for them and they can not be taken off and used on another phones even if the phones are the same phone. Only the Alltel V3c's can from what I have read use Java for games.

When I get to step #9
(9) Click Install --> Using Jad file and locate your .jad java file. If your'e file is .jar continue to step 10

It wont let me click install, It isnt highlighted for me to click. None of the buttons allong the bottom are letting me click them. Is there any reason for this?

Posted by: sharkjawz

Did you locate the .jar file???

Posted by: andersg

Yeah I have a ,jar and a ,jad file both in the same folder.

Yeah, as I previous stated in this thread, Verizon doesn't allow moto to put java on their phones. And I'm pretty sure that java is a seperate chip set on your board. I don't think you'll be able to do it. You might find something on moto modders, and I wish you the best in getting a java game on a verizon handset.

Have you tried motomidman instead of going off of the flash card or using midway? Try motomidman and let me know what happens.

Posted by: racapellan2003@

Hi, it worked. i dont know what the difference was now but when i clicked install this thing came up that said WITH JAD & JAVA ADAPTER, I chose that one, which did not come in the previous times i tried befor with motomidman, and it installed the games and i was able to play them, althought i expected better games like TOP GUN & GOLF THAT CAME WITH THE PHONE, you know good graphics sound etc, these were i felt cheap games downloaded from motomodders, shouldnt complain thought they were free. You know i did not even take out the Trans Flash card, i thought that was a bit weird, i had forgotten to take it out. Now where can i get some great games? i know is against the forums rules, right? anyways thamks a mil.

You shouldn't have to take out the transflash card using motomidman. Motomidman will even read the transflash card. I can send you some of the newest games available if you pm me your email address. I have Superman returns, batman begins, mi3, prince of persia the 2 thrones, and some other cool stuff. Just pm me and I'll send it to you.

try looking for a free program called jadgen as this will create a .jad file from you .jar.... it's only an address path anyway. then just put both files into same folder and load with midway

How to install Java games and apps

1. Go to Connectivity > USB settings and set them to "Memory card"
2. Connect your phone with the computer with cable and go to /mobile/kjava
3. Copy the jar file there and disconnect the phone from the cable
4. Go to Java Apps and Games and choose Menu > Switch Storage Device > TFlash card
5. Press one up (so you go to the very bottom) and choose "Install New App"
6. Choose the app and follow the instructions (they are simple)
7. Go to USB settings under connectivity, switch to Data/Fax mode and read the next note

Ok,A very simple way also is to use this program named Motorola Midlet Manager(Midlet - An application installed on your phone).Download it HERE

After extract the files in a folder and open MotoMidMan.exe
After you are asked to install hardware using the wizard that pop's up.
Just locate the drivers that came in the folder under p2kdrivers.
Just keep installing for a series of wizards and then your phone will be detected and connected.
After you will know what to do when you are connected.
Just under phone memory click install,
Locate the jar file you want to install from and then it installs.
Always remember ,after installation of all midlets,RESTART your phone simply by clicking restart. That's it

Apparently this don't work too well on my V235. Installed the drivers, connected the phone and created the JAD files, all was going well initially... but when it came time to enable the Java App Loader I ran into a little problem.

It -did- get enabled, but directly after the program popped up with "Unsupported Platform. Can't continue." and then grayed out the buttons (Access, Install, Replace, etc).

This site, as well as a couple others that I have found, gives a wealth of information about Motorola phones; but for some reason there is relatively nothing about the V235.

All you need to do is add your software version to the configuration file of motomidman and it'll work.

That depends on what phone you have and what program you used. I know this is a silly question, but did you powercycle the phone? After you install the games, you'll need to powercycle your phone to see the games in your java apps menu.

Posted by: matt87

yeah big time newbie...lol

whats powercycle and howd o you do it?..

i have a motorola v551 and i used P2KTools_v0.7.1.9

Installing games by any means other than a direct download from your wireless provider technically voids your warranty, but if you don't say anything about it- then no one will know the difference.

I clear my phone of all the games, data, and mods that I have put onto it before I send it in for a warranty exchange, and I've never had a problem.

It could be that the file you have for the game isn't an exact match for your phone. It could be a bad install. I've had that happen after I installed a new skin, and games wouldn't run if I was using that skin until I fixed the issue.

And if you are using the v557, you need to be sure that the game is compatable with the phone. The v557 is one of the weird motorolas that uses 2 partitions a\ and c\ and this affects the java system.

Thanks for the help got it working

No, you cannot use MPT to
