Funny customer today...

Lady comes in for help and swears the reps are at fault. Go figure! Three days prior she had opened a new account with Cingular and purchased a LG C2000. She decided to keep her old number from Alltel which she would repeatedly insist had not ported to her new phone properly. She stands fuming mad and interupting me as I try to finish a contract to free myself for her problems.

Finally attending the problem, she hands me a piece of paper that has random scribblings like "Gem Plus needs changed" "make them fix the Gem" "not actuated in right area" and this random 800 number that has no affiliation with Cingular but I called to make the lady happy.

Her description of the problem: "noone can call me, they hear it ring but I dont hear anything when I answer."

So, I'm about to test call her phone when it suddenly rings. She grabs the phone from me to answer and I SAW THE LIGHT! She insisted no sound was coming out of the phone but I could see the words "Call Held" shining brightly from the main screen. She had been answering her phone by opening it then putting the caller on hold by pressing the answer button!

I wonder how many people she has placed on hold?

that is funny...what did she say when you told her what was actually happening ?

As with many customers, it was pointless to tell/show her what was wrong. I simply turned off the "open to answer" function on her phone. I felt like hopping in a circle on one foot and chanting some rediculous rambling before telling her "There, that fixed it!" I think she'd have understood that. Almost possitive now that I think about it!

How about when customers leave ther phone powered off . Then turn it on to make a phone call and try imeadiately to make the call. It dosent connect. They try again and again. Then finally on the third time it connects. We then have to explain that we didnt do any magic tricks they just need to wait for the phone to connect to the tower before they make the call.

holy crap, that sounded like the wide of the freak I had to deal with last night. They were convinced their phones were tapped and the government was listening to their voicemails. There was a bunch of other weird stuff happening too..but man, that stuff took the cake.

Speaking of strange customers, I had a woman come in recently with two Nokia 6340i phones and swore that when she called her mother that her phone was translating what she was saying into SPANISH. Sounds like a neat feature to me...

So wait, Nokia sells their mobiles now with a built-in Babelfish?

dat's cool.

I had a similiar call once...this might be a repost. some lady called and said whenever she called a couple #'s she would get spanish speaking people in mexico, and she doesn't speak spanish. I thought she should stop calling those #'s. then i see the account is suspended for non-pay. she must have been getting misrouted to spanish RM whenever she tried to place a call.
I told her about this and she told me "it's her account and if anyone touches it, there's gonna be a lawsuit." then hung up.

I did an upgrade for a lady. When I took the old phone to transfer the phone book to the sim she freaked out. She said that if her phone numbers were on the sim card the government and Cingular would have unlimited access to her friends. I told her if that was true, all they would need to do was get a hold of her bill (which Cingular already has).
The lady wanted to hand transfer over 100 numbers. The oddest thing about the entire conversation with her was that besides this one issue, she was otherwise intelligent as hell. Weird...

A long time ago here on the Verizon side I was doing an upgrade for a customer and when I was putting the battery in and such and such the customer asked me to take the "antenna booster" sticker from behind the battery old phone and put it on the new phone. But here's the really funny part, the customer told me that it scrambles the signal so the government can't listen in on his conversation anymore... Instead of getting stabbed or something, I just proceeded to peel it off the old and place it on the new one.

some people are so dumb. i want a device to will scan customers and give a read out on how intelligent they are, that way i know how to deal with them.

i had a guy tell me his nokia 6680 would text/mms people for him.

i simply said "are you kidding me? it doesnt do that alone"

and he swore yes yes.

i didnt want to continue this conversation so i told him i had no solution to his so called random texting and that if it continued call CS.

i had an older couple come in after a few days I sold them a new nokia, and a few days later they come in mad as hell saying the phone doesn't work they can't make calls they can't recieve them or anything. so i look at the phone and turned it on. and then they replied "wow they make these phone so difficult." Mean while its a damn nokia 6010!!!! i get this atleast 5-8 times a week

This can actually happen on nokias. CSP search Virus or comwarrior. Have the customer go to url cingular.mcafeemobile.com to remove the virus. I think the virus sends adult pics.
