Curious how many posters have left or are leaving cingular for much *greener pastures*

Posted by: tennessee31

Are you talking about employees, or subscribers?

Posted by: Wireless Guy

Well, I have left Cingular Wireless already. I have moved on to a different carrier....I still use Cingular Wireless as my Carriere because I haven't had any problems w/ them. Yet I no longer work for them due to managment problems and people getting away w/ stealing from the company (Employees). I have moved on and am making a lot more money then I did with working w/ Cingular Wireless.

I have left and am now working for TMO USA.

sorry, to clarify, i meant employees or agents of cingular wireless. I know that just from this message board alone its rather high..

I left last week. I submitted 2 weeks and they said thanks but we'll pay you out. I feel SO happy to be gone.

most of the time .. if you give your two week notice,,, they will tell you to go on the spot . you will be paid your two weeks.. but you dont work them .

Shane --- I like reading your posts but please dont come back it is a nightmare here - SAM everything and angry custs all day - stay strong and get a real job in a real company . there is a whole world out there where they actually take care of the cust and not just talk about it " our reputation " at these fake sales rallies run by MGt that should be long gone .

our store lost two great reps in 2 months why - becuase they hate the company and the job - taking crap all day from degenerates !

Posted by: steva

I'll stick around eventhough i'm in a vendor site. we don't even get all the perks that direct employees do! my current dream job is RIM. i've already applied.

I don't want to sound stupid, but what do the acronyms SAM and IMO stand for? I see them in the posts but must be too old to understand the lingo...lol.

Thanks

IMO = in my opinion

Posted by: Freakshow105

SAM = Sales Attainment something

metric?

wow...do I move back and forth almost daily about leaving, not leaving...the new commission structure might benefit me...my corp store has massive traffic since the old blue store down the street left and all of the reps are benefitting...i'm tenured, i have serious schedule pull and my managers know I am a go to guy for questions and help with problems...yet the internal crap outside of the store is always playing on my mind...its a mind game with me, i'd hate to lose the great scheduling most of all...tenure, not looking to start at the bottom of the totem pole anywhere...dealing with degenerates everyday drives me to the point where i am confused as to how i have not yet pulled all of my hair out...i just don't know whats best, I go back and forth...but lord knows i agree and feel for and with all of you

Usually, I do not post on the Cingular forum but I had to comment on this statement....because I learned the hard way. Never, ever give a cellular company two weeks notice. First, as this poster states...they will get rid of you on the spot. I told Sprint-Nextel (former Legacy Nextel employee) that I was leaving on Feb 3, 2006. My DM actually tried to get away with making me leave with my last day to be January 25. I gave him notice on January 21.

I fought the last day thing (January 25 v.s. February 3) due to my medical benefits. In the Sprint-Nextel world, you Medical benefits end at the end of the month you resign. So in other words, if my DM won, I would have lost all medical benefits at the end of January. My new benefits did not start for 30 days after I started my new job (on February 6) so I had to e-mail the Area VP (skipped about 3 levels of mgmt. to get there.....I was upset) and since he was a legacy Nextel VP, he agreed with me.

So, I never went back to work, got paid like I was working, and resigned offically on February 3. The moral of this long story.....do not tell a cellular provider that you are leaving the company until you walk out on your last day...then resign.

The center I work in, if that's done they won't rehire you, doesn't matter what your attendance/performance was. Kinda sucks, but sometimes ya gotta play the game.

Me, personally, I haven't left yet. I don't hate the job, it's super easy. Annoying customer's at times. Ridiculous stats to meet...why are we told to do everything we can for the customer but punished if everything we can do for our customers makes the call run long or our availability suffer...that affects our job security, of course. And the hours sucks! 12p-9p? Get real. If I find a decent paying 8-5 I'm out the door...after I give my 2weeks of course

I personally like my job. Of course I've said it before and I'll say it again I work for what appears to be one of the last non-shadey agents left in the world.

No quotas, good commission structure, bonus for good scores on mystery shops, and good base pay. I was thinking about bailing for a little while a couple months ago, but the problems I had were addressed without me even bringing them up.

re: not giving 2 weeks

it really depends on your job function. customer service, they'll keep you around. sales unlikely.

Posted by: magiteck

I recently gave notice to Cingular to go to another wireless carrier, and was allowed to continue to work.

It depends on local management - and probably whether they like you or not
