"Sony Ericsson continues to roll out new models, and we got a glimpse of a new midrange color-screen phone, the T200, which is currently on sale in Canada. But more interesting news is an inexpensive monochrome model, the T106, which is geared to the youth market, offering a superslim design (almost half the depth of the T68i). That model should ship by the late March, while the P800, the company's smartphone offering, will ship next month."

article from C-Net

I hope this is true!!! that will mean major price drops...

if it is officially release in Canada, it probably will be locked either to rogers or fido. I prefer an unlocked one.

Yea I saw that however C|Net isn't the greatest source of phone info.

According to a couple of people I talked to this weekend who work at SE, it has yet to been accepted by a US carrier. So that means that it might be a couple of more weeks before one of the carriers decides to carry it and then they usually do some custimization of the fw and obviously they have to produce the first shipment of phones.

My bet is the middle of March.

Yea but even when they come out locked the prices of the unlocked ones will still fall.

According to this piece http://www.bargainpda.com/default.a...wComments=true, T-Mobile US is working with SE on P800, including getting test units. However, the author feels that the phones won't be available in the US until March.
Basically, I feel no one has a real clue or, if they do, they're not telling, so it's anyone's guess as to when (between next week & March) the phone will actually hit the streets. Actually, as a T-Mobile US t39 owner, I'm just psyched that T-Mobile will actually support the phone I'm gonna get.

jasperc, What I have heard is that T-mobile, Cingular, and maybe even AT&T are currently testing on their network it but none have yet signed on to carry it.

From BargainPDA.com:

"The Sony Ericsson is one of the most anticipated and delayed integrated device out there. We now have hard facts that point to a March release on the T-Mobile system. What's more, I think it's almost everything we've thought it could be.
The target price is $500 to $550, but the carriers have the right to do whatever they want with the pricing. The SE reps also indicated other carriers will have the device a few months after T-Mobile. So how do we know for sure March is really the month? Well, nothing is 100% but T-Mobile has placed the order for the PDAs and SE is fullfilling them at this moment."

Ok well I never trusted that guy at SE much anyway. oh well time will tell.

That would be nice.....

because cingular is focusing on 800/850 MHZ to avoid t-mobile. =]

Correct me if im wrong but I dont think they even own 800/850mhz spectrum in CA and in several other states. It is impossible for them to focus on spectrum they dont even own.

In CA, Cingular carries several GSM 1900 mhz phones that T-Mobile carries. So why wouldnt Cingular add the latest and greatest their list?

IMO: Cingular will carry the P800 later in the year (Q2 or so) in selected GSM 1900mhz regions. Sorry TDMA subscribers.

this is not an EAST - WEST thing. IMO, it's uniformity. cingular GSM should have same phones. reasons are similar than that of 7210.

'first triband phone from nokia'

no one thought this is gonna happen... until i said it. =X

consider: treos didnt survive for that price, wat difference would it make? bluetooth? color screen?

sad to say, some of mobile phone costumers doesn't even know bluetooth exist...
