I just checked today, and I couldn't believe this!! I was going to get the w600i on my upgrade on Mon, but I had to wait for my money to transfer into my paypal so I could use my paypal MC. Anyway, on Monday they had (for upgrade price or new customer price) the SE W600i for 299.99 - $50 Online ONLY discount - $100 mail in rebate = 149.99 (249.99 due today). This is a fair deal I think for this phone. But yesterday I went to check again, still awaiting my funds transfer, and the online discount went from $50 to $150!!!!!!! This brings to price down to 49.99 to get this phone. I managed to use someone else's CC just incase it was a 1 day only deal or a frickin mistake for all I cared.

So I guess my point is, any of you cingular customers out there that can upgrade now, can get a SWEET deal!

Yeah, that's a good price. Beats anything Sprint, Nextel, T-mobile, or Verizon is offering for $50. They should definitely do an advertizing blitz on this. To think the s710a was $200ish dollars 6 months ago...!

$50 (after rebate) is an awesome price for that phone. I've owned a W600i since day one and I'm still using it to this day. (and thats saying alot considering my never-ending thirst for always having to have the latest and great cell phone.)

Maybe they are just doing this in preperation for the release of the W810a...?
That will be Cingular's new high-end non-pda phone.

S710 was a nicer phone (better screen, better camera). wasn't the W600 supposed to be a cheaper version of the s710?

Well if you don't look at it too closely, the W600i has the same formfactor, is smaller, has 1.3MP camera too, and more memory. The S710a was pretty big.

i think that screen was just gorgeous, and the camera WAS better (i believe it was a CCD lense), expandable memory. i just liked the s710 better. but it was big

It's actually cheaper if you order it from Amazon. You make $20 after all the rebates. The downside is you have to deal with 1 extra rebate.

It has "snazzy" features, but I only care about reception. Everything else is cake to me. I'm gonna stick with shopping for a Nokia.

I was a tad bit upset about seeing the price drop AFTER I had paid $149.99 on premier 2 weeks previous. But, meh, what can you do?

My bother did the samething for his girlfriends phone so when i saw the deal i called him up and told him to go to cingular and return teh phone and buy the one for $50 because it hasn't been 30days yet. gl it's worth a try

Glad I jumped on it too!! Just got it today, awesome they ship UPS 2nd day air. Glad I found a CC to use to get it, my paypal transfer didn't come in until today, and apparently it went down 50 bucks in discount.

so when was the last time that you've owned a SE phone?

if its been a while, then you would certainly mostly be surprised at how well the current line of SE phones have came when the subject of reception comes into play.

I would put my W600's reception right up there with any Nokia phone I've owned. yes, the W600 is that good considering its technically classified as a mid range phone.

Its a widely held misconception that Nokia phones get the best reception. There is no way to accurately measure and compare reception in different phones, but that doesn't stop people from reading that Nokia phones have the best reception and accepting that as fact.

A lot of amateur reviewers will also talk about "reception" and they invariably get polar opposite results than each other. I read the amateur reviews to see the photos and the UI, I'll stick to an engineer's viewpoint about reception, thanks!

My W600i is acting up already...and it's only 3 months.
I think it's mostly the network though, but from quite a few times it would randomly reject my SIM card and display "inactive smartchip" then turns itself on and off again.
