Poor Motorola Service in Australia

I purchased a Vodafone Motorola V360v (IMEI # **************) on 21 January 2006 at Vodafone Mt Omaney Queensland.
I immediately requested and received the unlocking code from Vodafone.

After about 1 week the 'phone started to switch off at random and gradually got worse.

On Saturday 11 February I backed up my 'phone using Motorola Phone Tools in view of putting the set in for a checkup and switched it off for the night.

On Sunday 12 February when I tried to switch on again it just would not boot (21 days old).

On Monday 13 February @4:15pm I left the handset at Mobile Digital 915 Ipswich Rd Moorooka Brisbane for repair.

On Friday 17 February 12:30pm I 'phoned Mobile Digital and was told that the unit had a board fault and needed to be sent to Sydney.

On Wednesday 8 March I first 'phoned Motorola 1300138823 to try to get an update on the unit and was informed that the repair was being done that day.

On Tuesday 14 March I again called Motorola and was told that I should receive my unit back this week.

Today is the 16th March and I was contacted by Mobile Digital that I could pick up my V360v which I did at 4:15pm.

The repair docket stated "FB: 523493 REPLACED FLIP ASSEMBLY & TESTED OK".

On arriving home at 5:00 pm I inserted my Telstra sim card and tried to boot. The Blue keyboard lights come on for a second then go out again and the unit still will not boot.
THIS IS STILL THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM of 12 February.

I am again returning the handset to Mobile Digital tomorrow (17 March)

Due to the handset being faulty almost right from start and only 20 days old when it failed totally and it has been away from me for 30 days I feel that the unit should be replaced under warranty.

Why don't you return the phone to where you purchased it to see if they will replace it?

I tried that first. It is a Vodafone version. They refused and would only get it repaired themselves (by the same agent that I took it to).

I have been in further contact with a very helpful person at Motorola Australia and she has promised to send me a new handset as soon as she receives proof of DATE of purchase. Included will be a return post envelope to return the old unit.

I scanned and e-mailed the receipts yesterday and am hoping to have the new unit by Wednesday.

ScruffyGuy, You people in the U.S.A. would not believe the lack of consumer protection and service Up here in Australia. We have nothing similar to your "LEMON" laws.

I say "UP" here in Australia because for some unknown reason cartographers always draw maps upside down and they are concequently printed that way.
