The lagg of the e398..

Hello! I am new to this place, as I just decided I *might* do the whole E398->ROKR firmware conversion. But. I read it would make my phone EVEN MORE laggy.

My E398 laggs A LOT. Like, when I press the menu button it can take 1-2 secs before it enters the menu (let me just try... Yep, 1½ second this time), and when I write SMS's, the iTap is incredibly slow. Also, when I enter another menu(or exit it),like Multimedia, it takes 2-3 seconds to do this.

I am so tired of having a slow phone, so I have been googling for the option of putting another OS on alltogether, but that does not seem like it has been done (I thought something like; what if someone had made another OS for the moto, as they too got tired of it?, but that was not to be :crying

Anyway, I was also thinking of buying the SLVR, as it really does look sweet, and it is on offer right now at a local store. Yet, I get the idea that I might get a laggy handset, and consider getting a Sony Ericsson

What should I do?

Cheers

nox-Hand,
the new guy.

My E398 became not laggier when I had flashed it into a ROKR. My phone is much faster since I flashed it!

Quicker? Oh, that was not what I expected 0.o

Is the ROKR software a lot better, and are the functions worth the upgrade?

And is it possible to restore it to my regular E398 OS if I want it back?

There are much more games on my phone now and it has videorecording. I think it was worth it. You can always get your previous OS back if you make a backup. See this link: http://mirror.softcox.com/e398-to-ROKR/

Yep, that is the link I was looking at

How long did the upgrade take you?
The backup guide that is on the e398-to-ROKR page, that is a good enough backup, yes?

Cheers

This is a very very old and slow firmware. You can get a much better performance with R372_1CR or newer or with R373_48R.

Ah. And how would I go about getting a firmware upgrade? And how much faster would that be? *thinks "what to choose, firmware upgrade or use ROKR firmware...?"*

Much faster. If you need now 1-2 seconds, I need maybe 0,5 seconds. If you want itunes, video recording, AAC sound support, airplaine mode...use a Rokr@E398 Firmware. If not use a fast R372 Firmware.

If I were to upgrade to the R372 firmware, would that viod my gaurantee?

Also, how long time would you *estimate* it would take me (I am not slow at PC's) to upgrade to the:
- R372 firmware
- ROKR@E398 firmware

Thanks a lot for all the help

Anyhow, heres an update for you.

I have upgraded to the ROKR software (Meh, why not? ), and it is QUICKER than my earlier firmware

But, there is no Danish iTap on it. Any ideas?
