MS Voice Command on 2125

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: stsong

I haven't have good luck with the voicetag, has anybody tried out MS Voice Command on Cingular 2125? I read somewhere that it didn't work. Anyone?

Posted by: CeluGeek

Voice Command is not supported under the Smartphone platform; it is only for phoneless pocket PC's and Pocket PC Phones like the Cingular 8125. A link to Voice Command appears on the 2125 CD but that is a mistake.

Posted by: stsong

Thanks for clearing that up.

Posted by: thecableguy

Not only does a link appear, but it specifically describes the voice command software as being for pocket pc's and smartphones.

There was a BETA version that some members reported having awhile ago when MS VC 1.0 Pocket PC was released. Never did appear as a public release for the MS Smartphone. Would be great if he shared.

My email dwest218@aol.com

I feel the same I think if anyone has this it is there duty to share it with us lesser mortals

There is a Full Voice Command 1.5 for smartphone. The voice is UK not US. From the manual:

Microsoft® Voice Command is a product for Windows Mobile™ 2003 and 2005 based Pocket PC, Pocket PC Phone Edition and Smartphone devices that lets you use your voice to look up contacts and place phone calls, get calendar information, play and control your music, and launch programs.

Also from the manual...

Product Updates
This is version 1.5. Click here to check for product updates. Future updates will be posted on the Voice Command website: www.microsoft.com/voicecommand.

According to the update link, my version, 1.5, is the lastest version for smartphone.

FWIW, MS Voice Command 1.5 for smartphone isn't that great comparing with the built-in feature of the MPx220. I un-installed MS Voice Command after trying it out.

Here are a couple of screen shots. Notice the language, file version, and product name

Posted by: conan_troutman

did you keep the install file cos the file your pointing at is for ppc not smartphone i am yet to find a smartphone version and believe me I have searched and searched

That's the properties of the install/setup file. The first screen shot showed you that the product is Microsoft Voice Command UK SP 1.50. SP = smartphone. The link in the manual will take you the Voice Command for PPC file because MS has removed the SP version on the site.

Posted by: conan_troutman

ok from the begining i dont have a manual directing me any where i followed the link that was posted secondly when i install it my install screens look nothing like the ones you posted. it just in stalls the PPC version on the computer than tell me my device is incompatible.

If anyone out there has the sp version (as i do know what SP means) can they please make it available for down load at rapid share or surrealnetworks please so for those who missed the oppertunity to download the SP version can at least give it a once over.

if you dont have just say I dont have it

and have done with teasing us

Posted by: imisim

Fist of all, the program is available if you are willing to pay for it. Second of all, the program is not freeware or shareware, so it will be illegal and risking a ban by the Moderator or a visit from Microsoft to post it freely on rapid share. If you really want it that bad, pay $39.99 for it. You can buy it from Handango . The UK version will work with smartphone. Scroll down the page and look at the Compatible Devices and you will see that Motorola Mpx is one of the supported device. Mpx is a smartphone

The program *is* available for download on a five day trial. I don't think anyone here is asking for an illegal copy. Finally...the Mpx they are referring to *is* a pocketpc as referred to in this link.
http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=479

This *is* a pocketpc version of the software...not for smartphones.

wrong MPX is PPC (as the person above me correctly pointed out too) the MPx200 and MPx220 are smart phones. so that is not an option is it and why would I buy something with out trialing it first which is all i want to do.

Posted by: stsong

So the verdict is that the UK version works on Smartphone and not US?

I am sorry but the version I have is a full version, just install, no registration code is needed. I don't have the trial version to post.

No, as explain by the Others, MPx in UK version is referring to the PPC not the SP version. The MS Voice Command SP 1.5 is not for sale anywhere apprently.

So first you said that the PPC version you pointed him to was what he needed....now you agree that's for the PPC only and that what you have is not available for download.....and you still haven't said where you got your smartphone version.

I'll be right back. I need to get my hip boots out. It's getting deep in here.

Posted by: imisim

I don't have to tell you where I got mine from. The only important thing is I have it and you don't So you and cry all you want but you won't have it and apparently MS won't sale it to you either. I am just pointing out to dwest218 that a full version of MS Voice Command for SP does exist not the beta one.

Regarding the wrong version on Handango, I was just trying to be helpful but it was pointed out that I was wrong, so I admit it. What is so big deal about that? In the end, you won't have the program and I do, so you can all you want

Did you read what the first question was on the first post? My question was "has anybody tried out MS Voice Command on Cingular 2125?" not MPX 220 or other smartphone. If you're not going to share how you were able to get the software working on 2125, please do not waste our time, thank you.

Posted by: conan_troutman

he cant post it as he hasn't got it and if he did he can keep it i would n't want anything off someone with that kind of attitude bet his real names Bill gates.

Posted by: dwest218

Here is the big Question, Why has Microsoft not released this software? I know that a Smartphone VC 1.0 was made but now also an updated version to 1.5. But yet this software just never surfaced anywhere. WHY MICROSOFT???????? Those that have the software can you tell me if there is any Legal notices about distribution on the phone or during installation?? Who is to say this software is protected by legal rights? It was never made for sale and where does it say that Microsoft wasn't releasing SP Voice Command as a free product upgrade?? I'm not a lawyer but what legal rights does Microsoft have against this software being distibuted freely?

Duh, I was responding to dwest218's post and the answer was on topic anyway. Obviously you can not read very well because I have answered another question posted by you

You still have to ask that question although a couple of posts on the same page have already answered it.

You rather know the fact or keep on believing that MS VC for SP only available as a beta version?

Posted by: CeluGeek

In conclusion, there is no version of VoiceCommand for the 2125; There's just a certain poster trying to get some attention.

I don't have it and I could care less. I just posted the official information; Voice Command is not available for Windows Mobile-based Smartphones. Saying that you have it and we don't doesn't prove me wrong. Send me a link of Microsoft acknowledging the availability of VoiceCommand for smartphones and where to buy it LEGALLY. Then and only then you will prove me wrong.

Posted by: imisim

Nice try but I don't have to prove anything to you. Why don't you just call up MS Customer support and find out for yourself?

If you think SP program does not design for SP than you are using the wrong phone. You should try out the Motorolla Razr

List any programs, from any company, that you have either for SP or PPC and I will give you a sreenshot of the programs. Old enough to have a civilized conversation without the name calling like you.

Man, I don't usually get into these things, but IMSIM, grow up dude! If your job doesn't require you to go to the office, maybe you should at least get out more, socialize a bit; it would server you well and maybe you can learn how to interact with others in an adult manner. Maybe this is why you're not required to go to the office...they don't allow children there?

I will confirm for the rest of you, there isn't an SP version of VC (well there is one for SP2003 but it does not work over bluetooth. If you want this one, go to handango and look for VoiceStream who is licensing the Voice Command tech to MS). A Microsoft VC developer explains in a Q&A blog that they wagered bluetooth would support 16bit audio and wrote their voice recognition code around that assumption (currently, BT only supports 8bit). They felt that 8bit wouldn't give them the accuracy they needed and thus, no bluetooth support for SP. That does not rule out that there are hacks out there that will make it work...it just isn't coming from MS...unless of course you are a super kool super hero like IMSIN, then you have it already. He probably had it before Microsoft even had it, probably even before SP was invented.

Posted by: imisim

Wow, with 2 posts under your belly, and the second post is used for name calling and spreading false information. Are you sure that you are not the same kid who's crying fault and and will keep on crying unless you will get what you want? At least use your real account name, there is no need for you to use the spare one

Kid, just because you don't have it and can't get your hand on it, doesn't mean that VC for SP does not exist. So, stop spreading false information. Go to Modaco and search for the topic. Other people have been using it for a while now.

Now be a man and use the real account or going back and cry on your Mom's shoulder because you won't get one, kid.

[QUOTE=clarkitekt]...VoiceStream...QUOTE]

I mispoke, Voice Signal licenses the software to MS.

Posted by: patrickem

Once and for all the truth, there is Voice Command 1.5 for Smartphone. But there is one problem with the 2125, there is no button that it can be assigned to without a conflict. It does on the other hand work very well otherwise.

Posted by: clarkitekt

My understanding is that MS is working on an official VC release. What I have gathered from posts on MSDN is that they had it in the works and then backtracked it due to the 8bit vs 16bit sampling issue. Which I have gathered that the smartphone only samples 8bit audio where as the software was written for 16bit. This is purely speculation and inference on my part though. I am sure that there are some privileged little boys out there that got their mitts on a beta version.

I DO know that VC does not currently work (out of the box, so to speak) with bluetooth headphones for this reason (the first bluetooth hardware only sampled at 8bit). With newer BT spec'd hardware coming out I suspect this will change before long.

Posted by: patrickem

While I was using VC for smartphone it worked fine with my bluespoon AX2.

Posted by: nyvram

Check out the MDA forums under 'tmobile'. They've gotten VC working fairly well with BT headsets. The only problem is this is for PPC and not the Smartphone.

To clear this up...There has never been an MS Voicedial 1.0 or even 1.5 specifically made for WM Smartphones. Not sure where IMISIM is coming from with this information.
The truth about the matter is that any and all Voice recognition software that has appeared on any WM Smartphone has been licensed exclusively by voicesignal, and has indeed, never even been called Voice Dial. The MS Voice Dial application has always been designed for use on PPCs; whether they have/did worked on SP is not the issue.
Fact of the matter...no MS Voice Dial on SPs.

PS....more bad news is that this application only works on the mpx220.
http://www.voicesignal.com/index.php3

I learned all this doing some extensive research into these issues since I really wanted a voice rec. app on my SDA.

Also, I'll tell you how IMISIM got the program....he flashed his mpx220 with firmware from surrealnetworks....plain and simple. If he has Version 2.0 then he stole it off bittorrent/p2p/etc. There's no way to get the independent program without purchasing it. The newer Roms come with 1.5 of the software, but the newest version is 2.0.

Hope this helps.

Still looking for something that works well on the SDA other than Fonix. Thanks.

Posted by: iJITSU

I think everyone is referring to MS Voice Command, and although there is no official version, there is a version floating about that works on the smartphone format and even comes with an instructional PDF file stating that it was designed for PPC and Smartphone. I've seen it.

Go study some more. You have not learned anything apparently and your extensive research into these issues has not helped you at all.

What does ROM/firmware update has to do with MS Voice Command? 2.0? "The newer Roms come with 1.5 of the software, but the newest version is 2.0"? What ROM comes preinstall with MS VC? When did MS realease MS VC 2.0? What the h*ll are you talking about?

Posted by: Neoprimal

I meant Voice Command, not Voice Dial. And I know about MS PLANNING to make a copy that works on smartphones, but I've never seen it. I suppose it's possible that one was made and....never sold? Don't know. I just got Fonix, so I'm cool now either way - though I liked the features in Voice Command.

You have spend too much time gatherring, speculation and don't have the skill to able to understand all of those "garthered" information.

MS VC for smartphone works the same as MS VC for PPC. There is no difference functionality wise when comparing the version on my Eten and the one on my MPx220. Bluetooth one touch dialing works fine on either version.

Your cover is blown. You're a liar - is what I'm saying.

The newer roms come with version 1.5 of voicesignal's voice recognition software. And the only 3rd party version/upgrade is Vsuite 2 (by voicesignal) which has nothing to do with MS Voice Command. And you'd know this (if you really had the program)

Now there may be a version of Voice Command floating around that works for the smartphone. But you don't have it.

Posted by: imisim

Your stupidity is beyond belief. Go back and read all the posts. Look at the screenshots. Read other People confirmation about the existence of the program before calling anyone a liar. Just because you don't have it and can't get your hand on it means that everyone is a liar.

Also, learn how to read and stop making a fool of yourself for others to see. What does Voice Signal has to do with MS Voice Command for smartphone? Once again, what does ROM/firmware update has to do with MS VC for SP? Who said anything about MS VC version 2.0 beside you, the ididot? Who said anything about MS VC come preinstall with update ROM beside you? Who said anything about VoiceSignal? We are talking about MS VC for smartphone. Stop showing other how stupid you can be. Stop being an idiot for once in your life.
