Cingular 8125 Video woes!

Hey guys,

Been reading up a lot on my 8125 but I haven't seen a thread anywhere about video problems. My 8125 sucks at playing videos, they're really choppy. Is it just that the phone itself is too slow (read in a review) to play decent quality videos or perhaps I may need to update the ROM or configure something.

If there is nothing I can do because the phone is too slow, then does anybody have a straight forward program to re-render my videos with codecs and settings that are more compatible to the phone? I use virtualdub with my computer but it's hard to get the settings right with it. I was wondering if there was a program solely dedicated to lowering video quality to work specifically with PPC's.

I've tried overclocking the phone to 216mhz and it still played a tad choppy.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

If your video is not too long, try use Windows Media Player to sync with the phone via ActiveSync. It will automatically convert the video to the format (WMV) your phone likes. If you want to do it yourself, make sure it is WMV and video size no larger than 320x240.

I use windows movie maker (factory windows program) and save the video set for 'Video for Pocket PC (218 kbps)'. I have no problems playing the clips and they run smoothly. If you adjust the volume while the video is playing, the audio will continue but the picture will freeze for about 2-3 seconds, so have your volume set before you play the clip or pause it before you make adjustments.

Are you playing video with WMP? If so, I'd recommend the free TCPMP (The Core Pocket Media Player) as a more robust alternative. It is hands down the best media player I have ever used for any mobile format.
