SLVR L7 Connectivity Issues

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I recently purchased an unlocked unbranded moto slvr l7 off ebay. I've used p2kman in the past with my v300 and have had no problems.

I've pretty much tried everything but I can not get windows to regozine the phone when I plug into the usb with the provided cable. No new hardware icon pops up.

I've tried using p2k commander and mobile phone tools 4 and nothing will get the phone running.

I've checked the phone and it's set on fax/data setting. Here are the specs for the phone...

slvr 7 (unlocked)
boot loader - 08.d0
sw version - r4513 g 08 b7.dbr rb
flex version - gstl7t675cd104

running windows xp pro sp2

thanks

nick

Thanks...tried it and no luck. I've tried it on two different windows machines and nothing.

Windows doesnt even show that anything is being plugged in and no hardware is found.

Could I just have a bad usb cable (its the original). Maybe I should try another usb cable or blue tooth dongle?

Nick

OK ... Can you tell me wwhich cable you are using and does it have a bulb or a bubble in it . Dont remebr the thread but had same issues and cables like that are very common to have problems.

Its the official motorola usb cable that came with the phone. Cable seems to be good, I might try getting another cable or just a bluetooh usb dongle. Any downsides to the bluetooth dongle? Thanks!

In my experiences with bluetooth it is always subject to interference , disconnections and a lot slower than the usb cable . But if you can connect to your cell via it then thats great.

Well I'll try getting a new cable first then...ill report back!

ok ... But bluetooth dongles are not very expensive if you want to play with it .

Ok ended up getting a bluetooth dongle at compusa for $15, setup was a breeze and everything is working now.

But I guess I still need a data cable to do seem edits and connect with p2kman, right?

Yes you do to the best of my knowledge unless some genius has made new software workable via-blue tooth and if you find it I would love it.

that must be a faulty cable if your bluetooth works
