LG CG300 quality....

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The phone looks nice on the web, but it's hard to tell if it is as sturdy as LG VX6100 on Verizon's CDMA network. From my experience, GSM phones tend to be more plasticky vs. CDMA phones (with exception to RAZR and perhaps other motorola phones...)

Thanks for your replies and input.

I just bought this phone. If you want I could do a review. The first cingular ptt phone with a camera I beleive. Gets better signal then my z500a. Its extremely loud too since there is a seperate speaker on the outside besides the earpiece.

Yeah, I was looking at that phone also. Can you write a review for it. Also, can you write if it really can't use mp3 ringtones. There's specific things I'm looking for in a phone, so I might ask some other question. Thank You for your help!

This phone is a good phone for people who want a ptt phone that has a camera and has a loud ring.

The phone doesn't have much memory for pictures. The memory is split up . there is 1.3 megabytes for pictures. The thing is that the camera even at 640 x 480 stores the pictures pretty small. You get about 34 pictures at high quality.

I havent used the ptt feature of the phone yet because I dont know anybody with the service.

The ring is really loud. There is a speaker on the outside of the phone as well as the earpiece. You can make a call go on speaerphone and close the flip and talk like push to talk

I get better signal then my z500a. The outside screen is monotone no color but its very easy to see outside.

I Like the phone .I only really use it for a phone and a picture every now and then. Also there is the push to tal feature if you need it. I don't now if this phone has edge. It list class 10 gprs. Its also a quadband phone.

This phone does very well as a phone. pictures are a little ok. A little pixilated but average for a camera phone.

I also forgot. The camera has an led flash for the camera. Its a really bright white led that stays on till you tae the picture. Comes in really handy as a flash light.

If you have any questions just ask

I just bought one of these phones several days ago and must say...what an awesome phone! I have had several phones prior to this one..razer, l7, v557, roker, w600i, z520a and I can say that the rf and sound quality is by far the best I have had yet. Again, awesome phone and I am very pleased!

I'm thinking about trading my D357's in for the CG300. I just can not STAND how low the earpiece volume is on the D357 but other than that I LOVE the phone. I just wish that it had a camera and a louder earpiece, I like the CG300 but it just looks and felt cheap to me. They had a live demo phone in the store where I got my D357's from and I originally wanted to get the CG300 but the store only had one (I was doing the buy one get one free). I HATE the external screen on the CG300 I wish they would have just went with a monochrome screen or a TRUE color screen not some cheap fake. I hadn't actually looked at the pictures taken with the CG300 on a computer but they looked just fine on the phone, also the screen looked really good. I love the way my D357 looks, to me it's a very attractive phone. I also wish they could have intergrated the speaker into the CG300 it kinda sticks out like a sore thumb. I am very much on the fence and if there is anyone out there that has used both the D357 and the CG300 your input would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought 5 of these phones for my family and just upgraded to the PTT service. I must say I am quite happy with the quality of the phone especially as compaired to the ones I have owned in the past. The reception is loud and clear and no longer experience dropped calls. The phone has all the features needed, I do however have only 2 complaints about the phone.
1. The PTT button on the side always gets hit and initiates calls when taking off the holster of simply picking it up.
2. They claim the phone is Bluetooth but only can setup with headset, cannot hook up to computer for transfer in its current state.

That was also what I was worried about but I forgot about that at the time of my post (thanks). If anyone can deny or confirm this then I would be greatful. If the phone can not do OBEX file transfers with the computer then I will NOT get the phone. I am starting to wonder was this something that LG did or did Cingulars firmware have a play in it?

I have the phone 2. this will be hard 2 confirm because lg's site doesn't even list the site yet and i don't have a blue tooth adapter.

You can print via bluetooth with this phone so why couldn't you transfer files from it?

Alright guys, bad news I just got the LG CG300 and you can NOT do OBEX file transfers. My computer reconized the phone but when I went to discover services the only thing in the list was Voice Gateway. So just for anyone looking at this phone the bluetooth has been crippled on the phone and you can NOT transfer files, pictures, ringtones, ect. I still do like the phone though because it has a decent camera and the earpiece volume is plently loud compared to the Samsung but buyer beware now we have confirmation on the bluetooth fiasco.

I think it has been disabled because more and more bluetooth receivers have been coming out that all you have to do is poass by the persons phone and you can intercept their calls and steal their pictures.

I can still buy the usb cable to do all that. I have the phone too and I love the reception and the external speaker that it has. Makes the phones ring really loud.

maybe so but it still allows for a voice gateway connection via bluetooth, so one could still listen in on your phone calls. I just wish Cingular/LG whomever the case may be, would have left the phone alone. Besides when you get the phone bluetooth is disabled by default.
