Cingular 8125 store display model

I went to a Cingular store today and looked at the Cingular 8125 (which was a fake, nonworking display model). I looked at it, and I know PPCs have small screens, but the whole phone looked tiny compared to how it seems like a giant online. So I took my Palm LifeDrive out, and the whole phone seemed to be the size of the LD screen alone! I looked up its dimensions and drew them out; it looked bigger on paper compared to my LD than in store, and wider than the LD too, which it wasnt in the store. So can someone confirm whether the dispaly model is smaller or actual size? Or have I just been with this giant Palm for too long? (9 months) I'm looking to get a smartphone, and I'm probably going to make the 8125 it. But when I saw that screen it nearly turned me away from the phone...

well the screen is 2.8".. i thinkt he dummy is a little smaller not 100% though/

Ok, thats good to know I guess. But 2.8" in what way; diagonal, horizontal? My LifeDrive's is nearly 3.75inches.. I need to go see if I can find it in millimeters because I'm tired and '2.8' inches is screwing with my mind...

EDIT: After Googling pics again, it looks to be a 2.8" square-ish screen?

Screen is measured diagonally, and display models are 1:1 scale.

Ok...it just seems impossible though. The whole device really looked like it could be covered by my LifeDrive's screen alone...I've just had this large PDa for some time, so the 8125 could take some getting used to I guess. The best thing for me to probably do then is to sell the LD, and get the 8125 after payement goes through so I have some break time between the two.

yeah, the 8125 is tiny compared to the screen on my T3. That's the price you pay for converged devices though. The 8125 has about the best balance IMO...

True. It seems to be a pretty good phone, I jsut thought that if I got it I would be putting a LifeDrive size device up to my ear, seems to not be the case. And it deffinately cant be slower than the LD, even with 200MHz unless I over-multitask which I've never done on Palm OS. Does seem balanced, and hope it will still be that way if I get it.

like stated above its measured diagonally 2.8 inches. If it had anything bigger i would not buy it. I was really thinking about moving to Verizon/Spring because of EVDO, but i the device just seems much bigger, and the attenna drives me crazy. Size is a huge factor for me.

I hate the external antennas. In a way I guess the small screen is good because I woulndt want to put something too big up to my ear...I guess it just balances out well between PDa and cell.

The Apache measures exactly the same, including the 2.8" screen.

i know it measures the same, but i dont like how its rounded. also the attenna is a deal breaker for me. I hate phones with attennas. All the phones i own right now (6230, 6682, V3, and 8125) do not have attennas.

Its too round for me also, the 8125 has a nice square, professional look to it. And I hate those black antennas like that, some are ok though.

yes the screen is smaller than the Lifedrive, but the lifedrive isnt a phone.
