primarily, i wanted the Lexus IS350 even though i knew it would be a bit out of my budget. i was willing to get the basic one, sacrificing extras, just so i could have a Lexus. well, i ended up with a '06 Avalon Touring. i have no regrets in getting this car. it has impressed me with its quality all around. the inside is very comfy and spacious. with the added JBL Synthesis stereo system, it brings me back to my young days of bumping. anyhoot, there's so much to say about this car, but i think you should consider it. from the info you've given, it seems like you just want a roomy sedan that has a luxury touch. unless you want the Lexus badge really badly. but seriously, this car gives you the bang for your buck and then some. |

The GX470 is a large suv where the other two are midsize. The bottom line is that the lexus does come with the name, but it's also more reliable and a little more suited for daily driving. |

), and the transmission would be hesitant to upshift at lighter acceleration, but they've been recalled and reflashed to fix that problem. No problems with the 02. They aren't perfect, but they're far more reliable than Jeeps are. Additionally, I don't know if you're looking at V6 or V8, but the RX will get better fuel economy in those years vs. the Jeep, even on the V6.

The Grand Cherokee around here is known as the car that mom and dad give to their 16 year old daughters. Men don't drive em. And for those that don't have 16 year old daughters yet, mom's driving it. Reliability out of the bag is bad on the Jeeps. New car reliability on the Grand Cherokee is worse than a 5 year old RX (per Consumer Reports/JD Power). They're always in the shop for things. AC/heating, electrical things (gauges, readouts, lights), heated seats are terrible when they actually work, leather is cheap... you'll notice stretch marks and tears pretty quickly... cooling system troubles, transmissions, brakes are terrible... to name the most frequent ones I've seen/heard of. RX300's will keep you going for a long time, even past the warranty period. I've had 3 in the family before (99, 02, 04) and the only major problems we had were in the 99 we had some issues with chrome flaking off the wheels, but they weren't Lexus wheels, and in the 04 my sister broke the catch on the glove box, so when opened, everything would spill out ( ), and the transmission would be hesitant to upshift at lighter acceleration, but they've been recalled and reflashed to fix that problem.
