How come my new w600i is always getting 4 or 5 bars and is always on 'E' (EDGE) and my fiance's new z520a is always going down to one or no bars and is always on 'G' (GSM)

We are in the same house...both on Cingular. I have 64k smartchip, her's is an older 32 SIM. Does the w600i just get WAAAAAY better reception, or is there something on the z520a I need to change...can't find anything...?

The new z520a was mine for about 3 weeks, calls would drop, and everycall I had problems, couldn't hear or it was garbled and stuff.

I haven't had any problems at all with the w600i, it's always got all or most bars and is usually on E instead of G. Is the z520a screwed up, or is there a setting I need to change, I couldn't find any about changing networks or anything about roamin and what not. I guess what I am saying is the z520a gets horrible recetion, and i am just wondering if the w600i just get's way better reception because it's higher end, or if there is a problem with the z520a.
Please help...

the z520a has been recalled by cingular for problems i suggest u lock/line it or something.

It is locked to Cingular, got it on Family Talk addition, what is "line" it. I am still in 30 within 30 days, should I return it for another one??

I just wonder why it has ****** reception and my new w600i has absolutely NO problems, they both have the same loop antenna.

Bars are superficial. Hows the actual call quality?

Crappy, barely hear, garbled audio, and then neither party can hear for a while, bars drop to nothing. My fiance's LG C1300 is the same way, but this w600i is perfect.

its defective, return it for a new one. my z520a doesn't do any of that, I have perfect reception and audio.

But where do you live?? I'm in Idaho, we have squat here, sure we have towers, but not that many.
Nobody's has really anwered my question. Is the reception on the w600i THAT much better, or is something wrong with the z520a. Keep in mind, the LGC1300 is the same way (The phone my fiance's sim was in befre the z520a)

The LG phone you mention is a piece of crud ... hard as it is to say (I do love LG

). The garbled audio is the biggest clue that its a defective phone, the z520a is really a great performer in that regard even with low bars. If the towers in your area were to blame your w600i would have the same problems. Exchange the Z520a while you're in your 30 day window ... its easier to do it now instead of later when you'll have to go through xbm (exchange by mail).

Anyone know how long it would take to get a new phone here?? I am in my 30 day window until the 24th(Well that's the day I ordered, not received/activated).

Did you buy online or at a store? If a store just bring it back. If online it takes a few days to get a new one and they send shipping labels to send the defective one back.
