Custom ringtones quiter on v3c?

I have a V3C with Verizon, and have noticed an annoying occurance. Any of the preinstalled ringtones, be they midi, mp3 or otherwise, are very loud when used. However, if I put a mp3 on my phone by way of PixPlace or email, or even if I assign an individual ringtone & then select to record a new ringtone, it plays very quietly. It almost seems like the ringer is playing from the earpiece instead of the external speaker/speakerphone speaker. In other words... if I assign a mp3 that I sent to the phone, or a created sound as a ringtone, it'll play so quietly when called that I can barely hear it, but when I assign a preloaded sound or mp3 as a ringtone it plays very loudly. Does anyone know what is causing this or how to correct it?

I had the same problem and the only way I found to remedy it was to use a data cable to get the mp3's on the phone. I did that and now they sound just as loud if not louder than the factory ones....

I wish it was that easy. I am having nothing but problems using the USB cable. I got it working on my old V3, but I cant get it working on my Verizon V3c to save my life. It connects, but I get time out, read, vlume name, volume info & write errors every time. I just bought a bluetooth dongle on eBay only to find out that Verizon has the OBEX disabled. I am hoping I can use the bluetooth to connect with P2k and enable the OBEX, but I doubt that'll work as nothing has been easy for me with this phone. The mp3s play fine when I go into my music and play them manually, but when they are set as a ringtone, they get really quiet.

Yeah, but this cant be an issue of disabled anything. Their ringtones work... is it a matter of what directory theyre in or what file extension they have? They allow you to record your own ringtone (like your voice saying "answer the phone"), but that plays quiet too, and seemingly out of the wrong speaker. This is false advertising. They claim that you can use your own ringtones/recorded sounds.... and I was promised that I could by two different agents at two VZW stores and one customer service agent on the phone. It seems to me that there MUST be a way to correct this, but it could indeed be a simple motorola configuration setting that anyone EXCEPT VZW customers can change, but I cant because they have it locked out of their stupid proprietary UI. As for the blocking out the OBEX on bluetooth, do any of you know if I'll be able to connect via bluetooth to P2Kman or any other software and then use that to edit the seem or flash the phone enough to enable OBEX? Ideally, I'd like to use the bluetooth to flash the phone to the alltel UI. Is it possibile, and if so, will I lose VCast?

I have the same issue as well.

I've found that if you manually turn on the speakerphone (the small button located on the left edge of the phone when flipped open), the mp3s that are emailed to your phone play just as loud as the pre-built ringtones. However, that means that you have to turn it off when you answer your phone, which is hard to remember to do, and a hassle.

My conclusion: Emailed or otherwise not directly uploaded mp3s do not use the built-in speakerphone option unless the speakerphone is manually turned on when the phone is closed.

Another quirk:
Is there any way to set emailed mp3s as your personal greeting, instead of having to record it?
