BG thanks for ur help with my itunes issues, I deleted the itunes folder and resynched with itunes 6 and my pc itunes detected my rokr perfectly.

I ran into another problem. I made a few mp3 clips to use as ringtones and sent them to the phone via usb bluetooth adapter. When I listen to the files in Multimedia >> Sounds they sound perfect. My problem is when I apply them as ringtones the only sound that comes out is the motorola continental ringtone sound. Can anyone help me out please?

@BG: i got the moto skin and i will try to fix my problem. also, i have another question. i have Tmobile and want to sync with iTunes (not motoTunes). is this possible? Thanks for all ur help and replies

EDIT: I put Moto on there and tested it. the menu on there is wut i want however, when i switched back to "Tux" which is wut i want to use, it refers to 0iGrey's menu. So i think the problem is that 0iGrey is set as the default "refer-to" skin. i was thinking that i can delete 0iGrey and rename Moto as 0iGrey so all my skins would refer to this. however, i don't want this mess. how can i set Moto as the default? Thanks!

i like 79fr its nice... well its fast to me enougth i try a lot of firmwares, (thats just my point of view) and i like unlimited vidio cauze i need it, i use it, and 6fr its bad really bad... and yes i can get back to another firmware without proble im not stuck, its just a firmware..., please help me with that how could use it on ur mp?, i know all my prob its cauze the firms use another ways to get into camera modes.. thats why when i get unlimited vidio i should get some mp with video cam i u do with a mp without a camera video the icon appears but dont work, pls just a little hel...p

I've just Flash my phone to 6FR that u have provided to me,now I would like to know is it possible for me to change the skin in your 6FR MP can you show me the way of changing it?another thing is hw to enhance the sound quality as well as the midi sound its a bit soft, I love the sound that in your 48FR Revolution MP,that's great!!

you need to delete 2 *.DB files located in a/mobile/audio/ & restart your phone
or do it using p2ktools & press FIX MELODY DB ... or with p2kadvanced editor ...

you need to edit your PDS so you can synchro with iTunes6 .. read abomination conversion guide... on motomodders.. he also have guide on his web site how to synchro with iTunes6 ..
-about Moto skin... you need to upload that Moto .. & to select it .. than you need to DELETE all other skins except moto.... than when you upload NEW skins .. moto will be default skin.. & new skins will use icons from Moto

EDIT: Hey BG, i tried the TomeQ's iTunes method with the PDS thing and it didn't work. i think its because I don't have Cingular? O well...still really enjoying that I even have iTunes (because i didn't just 2 months ago). motoTunes is better than nothing huh? haha

GPRS APN bug is because DRM..
you can solve it:
a) flashing new DRM
b) enter manualy GPRS APN with p2ktools or p2kadvanced editor
c) restore your web sessions

robocellkid: TomeQ's method for PDS crack is independent of carrier; I have used his method on both cingular and t-mob user phones. The phones were unlocked, remained unlocked, and worked with iTunes after following the full TomeQ PDS cracking process (using Abominations' Guide for cracking - on another forum). In fact I have cracked PDS while phone has T-mob sim in it, then switched to cingular card and worked fine (4 phones); also cracked PDS with cingular sim in phone, then switched to t-Mob card - still works fine today. Good luck. Just make sure you follow the directions completely. I wandered from the directions once to test a procedure I thought might work - bam... needed to do backup and start over.

u can use P2kMenuEditor to make ur menu how u want it. U can also change the JAD file of iTunes to not autostart (unless iShell always autostarts). but if u really hate the autostart, uninstall current iTunes and install another one (1,000 limit iTunes 2.8.1 works well)

I just installed this MP and It`s one of the best that I ever tried. It's very light and have some good skins.
But I`ve been having some problems to find the network on this MP. I could find it 2 times before, but every time I reboot the cellphone I just lose it and can't find it anymore. The SIM card was working properly on the old MP and it works well in my other cellphone.... Can someone help me??? =D

For fixing a lot of "bugs":
Upload 0032_0001.seem to phone...

For better sound:
upload all files from "BodyGuard's 4xR Sound" folder to mobile phone /a/:
e.g. /a/gain_table.bin , /a/vib_dot ........ etc.

For enabling "Insert Picture" when you are in SMS editor:
upload all files from "EMS pictures" folder to /c/mobile/pictures/
& you can set hide atributes to uploaded files if you want to pics be hiden in multimedia/pictures

I was using the v3.0 but I turned back to the v1.0
Still I have the same problem, and I'm afraid it's not only with this MP!!! I tested others MP and I still can't find the network!! With i398 instead everything works fine!!!
Actually, after 20 or 30 minutes I find the network, but sometimes it doesn't happens and I can't restart the cellphone couse I loose the network!! =(((

I'm not sure about Network... maybe you need QuadBand ?? try changing Bands in Revolution v3.0... flash rev 3.0 & this new Update Pack... Than you will be able to Change your Network Band in Network options..

anyway the best will be if you make new Topic & tell people about your problem.,..
it isn't because MP ... I'm not sure why it is :|

BG is right, it is not the MP. I have run his MPs many times into southern California on Cingular where they use the old AT&T towers that are all on 850mhz and the e398 does not come with this freq. His MPs work every time. I do check the seem edits for quadband every time I flash a new MP coz I travel in and out of places where only a particular band works and that is the most important thing for me on a phone. As BG said, check the seem edits. If your phone was working on i398 or Sho3ys MP, it will work quadband on BGs since you have already flashed the flash enabler "R373 Flash Enabler.hs" you should have the quadband. Cheers.

I restored my e398's backup for the third time and I've done all the steps to make the conversion to Rokr AGAIN. I don't know why but this time it seens to be working fine with the Revolution 1.0!!! I'll now try to install the v3.0 and the update!!!

OK guys, I got it work (edited above post). Not 100% sure if I did it correctly though.

First I flashed using: R373_G_0E.30.42R_PDS004_LP002E_DRM0101_JPJAVA_G_0E _E790_00_00_21I_SE7007AXXU107A_for_all.shx

Then I flashed with the Revolution file posted here. Is that correct or should I have flashed with something different before Revolution? Doesn't everything get overwritten anyway?

EDIT: Hmm the only skins I have are 0iGrey, Road and Moto-Sybian iTunes. Is that correct? I thought there were different ones listed in the first post. Also i'm missing a lot of/all the media listed. I have an Obie Trice video and Black Eyed peas video. I also have a DMX, David Guetta and another MP3. Nothing that's listed in the main post though.

Hey, my bluetooth is stuffed.. it doesn't detech the phones around me even when im certain they are on, ie other fones.. nokia, samsung, sony ericssons detect. also my phone couldn't be detected.. i've only been able to find one other whcich was a revolution v2 e398 other moto fones i've tried didn't work something wrong should i just reflash?

1st: im from uruguay and i speak spanish (besides from english) but i need to have spanish language on my cell cuz im gunna give it to my mum and she has no idea about english hahah

2nd: the MP doesnt come with Spanish iTap either..., is there a way to add it to my cell?, i cant wait till u release a new monster pack... u know how mothers are haha, specially mine

use RSD Lite or similar program to flash it on. pretty simple.

u should be able to. 70R is not the problem causing one such as 79R yikes! it locked people into that f/w and couldn't downgrade (technically downgrade) without testpoint.

1- i have some vCards on my computer and i need 2 transfer em to my cell's phonebook, how to do it?

2- I flashed ur V3.0 MP and when i run itunes on my cell and and go to ABOUT section it says SONGS: x/32767 right?, but when i try to add more songs through my iTunes Desktop it says that the max for this cell is 100 songs and it wont let me add more songs.... is there a crack for iTunes desktop for this problem???

first you make FULL BACKUP .. afther that you flash... if you don't like it OR if you accidently KILL your phone .. you can restore your FULL backup...

Still no.. but you can upload more than 100 songs with MotoTunes or some other program.. or you can upload all songs to B/mobile/audio/ & press in iShel iTuneDB icon DB BASE & it will read songs from B/mobile/audio/ ... but you will not have Artworks & you will not be able to synchro with iTunes PC...

heres a question... when i start P2K Tools, it says AT interface and P2K interface right?, well, when i switch to AT int. it works ok, but when i switch to P2K int. it says PHONE NOT CONNECTED!. so, do i have to install some kind of weird driver?? on what mode do i have to start the phone (normal or bootloader)?

when i try to flash a new languagepack an error comes up on my ROKRs screen. Also happens when i try to backup with FLASHBACKUP. i think i have a problem with my driver. would somebody explain me step x step how to install the driver correctly??

hmm... When I tried flashing E1_AND_E398_ R373_LP0003.shx with FB 2.62 it messed up the cool font on my e398.

every LP have own Font... so the most of LP's are with default stock motorola font.. but some LP's like my included in Revolution MP's have changed fonts..

it's very hard to change Fonts in LP

Hey, really like the MP. The only thing that bugs me is that I cannot get iTunes 6 to detect the phone at all. The phone goes into iTunes mode when connected, but it doesn't show up. Anybody know what the problem is? I've done the PDS fix and its still not working.

Unlimited video recording, at this point, is only available for firmwares 373_30.6FR or 30.70R because they are patched from a different model that comes from the factory with unlimited video capability. 373_4xx MPs are typically patched from the ROKR for which unlocking unlimited video has not happened to this point. In short, if BG could do it, he long ago would have.

i tried to unlock my itunes sms alarm(eve tho` i don`t know what it does).. and after the first restart i see the yellow light, after the second one i see the same yellow light, after the third i see also the yellow light... i tried to put in a new sim card.. and saw a yellow light after the start.. whats wrong?? i putted the itunes.dat in a:\ and wrote in itunes.dat the following: imsi0=x

I have only one sim card... what i did wrong??
And another thing.. with ishell... it says that iTunes plays after inc. call, and it plays after outcoming call... well i tried to play iTunes.. and told someone to call me... and iTunes stoped.. same when i try to call.. i builed iTunes database before... and after that...
And.. what is the separator "-"?
PS: i copyed some files from the patch dir.. .seem to a:\ and the sound files to a:\ aswell.. the only thing that i didn`t copyed are the pictures for insert picture option.. (do i have to copy them into the card dir\pictures?)
A nEW PROBLEM! - When i try to set up my wap and mms i must go to web sessions and there at GPRS APN i must enter wafree.connex.ro and mms.connex.ro .. the problem is that i can`t.. i can type only numbers... heeeeeelp!!

also another bug.. when i try to edit a number stored on my fone.. i am kicked out in the main screen.. and another thing.. how do i remove that anoying sound (the warning beep) when i`m out of battery (i tryied to put the fone on vibrate even silent and the sound was still on).. pls help
PS: don`t wanna make any wrong concluzions and annoy someone but.. i think revolution v2.0 was the best.. v3.0 has a few bugs.. even patched

im from uru. im going to give my rokr to my mum so i need to install spanish language provided that she doesnt speak english! i downloaded a lang pack (it says something like 0039) from e398mod.com. when i try to flash it it says: EXTRACTING CODEGROUPS, SENDING LOADER, and when it says FLASHING... on the cells screen apears an error and it freezes!!

i tried with other lang packs but the same happens....

plz need sum help!!!

hey BG.i hav a major problem...i dnt know if it is due to ur MP which i am using but nevertheless i need some answers from somebody.......i flashed my phone with ur MP but after some days of use i installed ifone MONOPOLY(a java game).....th fone got stuck while loading the game.......and after that except the power button no other keys have been workin......i cant even access the bootloader........and to top it all my USB settings are switched to MEMORY CARD so i cant even flash my fone again........please help....

@prithwish - delete the game and try and reinstall it. About switching from memory card to data, you need to go into connection > USB Settings > and change it to Data/Fax Connection.

thanks for the reply..but the point is that the buttons on the fone are NOT WORKING........thats the whole issue......so there is no way i cud delete the game or switch to DATA/MODEM USB setting.......i think only the test point method can work for me.....what say???

you could always restore the backup and see if that fixes the keys. not sure why the keys would stop working. whats your S/W Version before the flash?

when u downloaded BG's MP, u downloaded a .rar file right?, extract it and look for a file that says something like REVIVAL GUIDE...
follow the REVIVAL steps and u'll be able to access bootloader and reflash ur mobile

good luck!

p/d: be aware that ull lose all the files u had stored on the cells memory...

Currently I don't know where to go *feeling lost.

Here's my situation.
I flashed my phone from r372 to r373 using 42R-for-all
The phone boot no problem. I did not restore my PDS like the tutorial said at http://mirror.softcox.com/e398-to-ROKR/ but I went straight to flashing my phone with babyVIPER Xtreme(MX) 70r then the language pack of my choice.

After that when i tried to restore my PDS backup like the tutorial my phone just booted from boot loader nad went white in the middle of backup restoring.

When I tried to turn on my phone there's only the keypad lighting then it turns off again. Reflashing didn't do me any good. I'm trying to do a full backup restore now. *cross fingers.

Backup restored my phone to original settings. What can I do to make my bluetooth address again?

thomasyke: The bluetooth fix is actually in the e398->ROKR manual; but I will quote some of it: "what the 42r-for-all file did to your phone. Basically it blanks a section of your phone's memory, the "PDS" which contains things like your IMEI code and Bluetooth address. The phone repairs the IMEI section, but your Bluetooth address will not be restored, it will be FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF instead of your real address (for example. 43:B4:5A:33

D:6F). This means some Bluetooth devices will not "see" your phone, mostly BT headsets. [personally I never use "42_4_all"; I have used only BGs 42R on 5 phones and never had a BT problem].
More quote: "You must have an older PDS backup, it can be from ANY previous firmware (stock, i398 etc.) as long as it's from BEFORE you flashed 42r-for-all. If you don't have an old PDS backup then the process is MUCH harder, read the bottom of this page. If you do have your old PDS backup, proceed ahead.
Run Flashbackup, and find an old (before 42r-for-all, see above) PDS backup
Ensure YOU made this file, it's not from someone else's phone
Turn your phone on in BL mode
Run FlashBackup, switch to backups, change to PDS Backup and press the "..." button to choose your PDS backup
Press Restore and answer yes
Now power your phone back on. It appears nothing has changed, but read my "My Bluetooth is dead!" page under "Here’s how to determine if you have this problem". The second method is easiest to follow. As long as it shows your BT address is not FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF you have fixed your PDS and your Bluetooth should be fine!"
See this thread in which Muncheno explains how to create back your BT if you did not do a PDS backup, or it becomes corrupted: http://www.motomodders.net/Default....pic&postid=8937 Afew items from that post: Check to see if the SEEM 00AB address (first 12 digits) is the same as the address written in the sticker at the back of your phone. Ex.(BD_ADDR: xx xx xx xx xx xx) <-12 digits
If different, open the seem with pk2tools/p2kseem/p2kfunc and change it to your address
The seem should be like this (xx xx xx xx xx xx 00 1A 00 F9 00 00 00 00 00 00) the “x’s” are your address from the back of your phone.
The 1A and F9 is a must to put in.
After it is changed, save it to a file for later use. If you did not have the file, then make your own.
a) Open XVi32.exe (hexeditor)
b) Click FILE -> New -> Edit -> Insert String -> Hex String
c) Copy xx xx xx xx xx xx 00 1A 00 F9 00 00 00 00 00 00 and paste into the hex string box.
d) save it as SEEM 00AB into the "seems" folder
This should get you back in business. But read the Muncheno post and then the 398-ROKR conversion and you will get it.

thanks for the reply.....how can i restore the backups unless my PC detects my fone as a modem that is programs like FB and RSD show PHONE CONNECTED ...the setting on the fone is stuck at MEMORY CARD and whenever i plug the usb cable, the system tray shows external storage device. Before REV 3.0 it was Starter XP TE.....i am clueless about what i need to do......the Force Boot Method doesnt seem to work.....as a final resort i am lookin for the proper screwdriver to open the fone for TEST POINT......

OK, first, don't open the phone for testpoint; first try the short pins 4 & 5 (I think from memory) on the bottom of the phone. It worked for me 3 times and it is safer and easier. See this: http://mirror.softcox.com/?page_id=12

Be careful with doing testpoint. I did that to my phone because I flashed it with 75R and as most of you know you can't flash anything else after that. I for one work in a GSM service and I do Motorola test-points all the time so it wasn't that big of a deal, apart from the fact that I did it at home using just some scissors to cut open the metal shielding above the TP area.
You can very easily damage the main board or break loose some components of the board, you see, it's not just a matter of opening up the phone - that's the easy part, after that you have to somehow remove the metal shielding above TP (or make a hole just above it - the ideal way).

ok i tried the FORCE BOOT...didnt work.........could not really muster the courage to Test Point.......gave it for servicing....got my fone fixed for $65 (gawd dammit!!!)......no questions asked.......at the end of the day i feel i am the loser but then anything for my mate e398 :-))

Hi guys...I need help

I flashed my phone with the new Revolution 4.0 MP and now I cant get past the bootloader screen. This is the screen i get when phone is plugged in with data cable:

I tried flashing with various MP's with diffrent flexes....no good. I cannot find a ROKR bootloader...only e398 ones.

I used RSD Lite 2.5 and Flash Backup 2.62.

I read the E398 survival and revival guide and searched the forums here, motomodders.net and on e398mod.com with no real solution.

What can I do?

Restore your backup and then post what your original s/m was. That will help a little.

I cant recover my backup

I used motokit 1.06 thinking it was a fullphone backup.

The backup is in there but motokit wont reconize the phone. the only programs that reconize the phone are rsd lite and flash backup. I didnt even think about using rsd or flash backup

is it possible to load someone's bootloader from their ROKR? iv'e tried to locate one online with no luck..only e398 bootloaders.

Thanks for new MP, I was really looking forward to this, as I have skipped V3.0.
I have only one small problem. After I turn up the phone I-Tunes Database Creator starts and the side color light turn blue. I Tunes do not work in my country, so I would prefer to have version without it. Is there any?? I found my way around it, and have to turn another Java app ON, than Off and than the blue side light dissepears, but it is not really proffesional way.
If this can be done by myself (with little knowledge of modding), let me know.

no first flash wiith 42-for-all firmware.......flash another FW which is more like a patch....it will change ur FW to xxxxxxxxx.43R........lastly flash the revolution version of ur choice

A curious question here. If a flashed my phone into a custom MP meaning like say babyVIPER-70R. If I did a reflash into the 79R would there be any difference in my phone besides the flash & dsp. Would my settings/customed apprearance go haywire?

If the phone is a e398, flash with the MP for e398. The 373 platform for e398 was originally firmware for ROKR phones. BG has patched that for your e398 to make it e398@ROKR. Flash the Rev MP directly to your phone.
If the phone is an OE ROKR E1, then flash with the MP for ROKR. Cheers

This is intended to all who want to mod or put MPs on your phone, from experience. BEFORE you flash or do any program mods, read this

Read this carefully and follow the directions. If you have a question about the process BEFORE you flash, ask it and save yourself (much) grief. There is almost always a solution to the problem you may have in the "bible".

Edit: OK, the sw version of BGs MP is r373_46R. If your phone is displaying r372_20.c1r, the MP did not flash onto your phone.
1- Flash your r372 "backup" back on to the phone. If you have followed the flashing/flexing guides, you have at least a fullbackup, a pds backup, and a bootloader backup. Make your full backup into a flash file and flash it to your phone. Another method with one less step depending on whether you used Motokit6, Flashbackup v2.6, or RAMLDR to make your backups is to just use one of those applications to re-install your backup. Flashbackup or Motokit is the best for that.
2- Make certain everything is working like new again.
3- Follow the instructions in this guide http://mirror.softcox.com/e398-to-ROKR/ to convert your r372 into a r373, then you can flash BodyGuard’s MP successfully. This guide has worked for me modding 6 phones from 372 to 373 every time, no problems.

rayo87: no, it does not seem normal.
1- Were you able to get your phone back to original working condition using your backup?
2- If so, what did you do after that?
Give me a step by step of what you did from the last time the phone was working.
I have never used 42_4_all in converting from 372 to 373. But let's get your phone back to a point where it is working and then go from there.

Go to step 4) “R373 Conversion”. Do all of that step 4. Follow this carefully. Stop.

Now flash Body Guard’s “BG ROKR 42R MP”. If you want to crack iTunes in your PDS, go to Abomination’s Guide (the one you have) at “1.4 Fixing iTunes”. I have always cracked the PDS at this point. After you go through the process of cracking the PDS, you can flash any MP you want, for example BGs new Revolution 4

Thanks for advice. I have deleted ITunes folder. Application starts anyway, but when I hit red button it is gone, so problem is solved-thanks.
But I have another small one: Rokr LP does not want to read my songs on TF card (it is now 1GB), there is no "switch device" option. Multimedia-songs would play fine, but I do not know how to create playlist, there is no shuffle option so I kinda a sucks to play the songs exactly in the way they were loaded. Advice appreciated.

Sometimes when im replying an sms i accidenlty press the green button and the message is sent and theres no way to cancel the sending process. id like 2 know if theres a way to make my cell ask me if i want to send the message....

believe or not, motorola c115 has this option, when u r writing an sms and u press send, the phone asks u if u r sure u want 2 send the message.

That same thing happened to me. By mistake i loaded a MP for a E398 into my E1, i had to run a fix to be able to load the software for the rokr again, let me know if you already fix it, if not i can send you the file i used to fix mine.

I just have a little problem with using my mp3 songs as a ring tone? ive already transffered it to the phone memory for i to be able to use it but when i use it as a ring tone, my phone just rings twice and i can't hear my assigned tune. Hi BG, I'm still using MPv2 (I'm too lazy and busy to Flash to MPv4 :-P )and I have a little question for you... I'm using my hearphones and I found a "little" bug: when I call someone I can't end the calling pressing the hearpones button!

What's wrong? I have to re-flash my phone to restore this "old" feature? :-)

My first question is my gprs seems not to be working properly. It can't send any pic or videos after flashing your MP. I haven't tried sending any pics or videos using another phone by way of multimedia messaging. My gprs icon is still on display mode even if I don't have any load. It usually goes off if I have no load(in my original settings). Btw I'm a prepaid subscriber.

Second what is the hack seem for making my bluetooth icon permanent just like the gprs, signal,multi line support, battery and vice versa. And how bout the others?

Dear Bodyguard....i have flashed with your MP and it was great but i have smthng that i am curious. Why is the light sensor not very sensitive and the keypad light hardly turns off when in bright condition.

i have tried to look for mod using P2K Advanced editor and there is SEEM taht can control the sensitivity of the light sensor but i don't know what value to set in order to increase the sensitivity.

do you know or anyone know how to do this?

Hy bg.I've recently instaled your mp v2.0 on my rokr e1(firs i've used the 1.0 version) and i have some problems:i've instaled your v2.0 mp with rsd lite and when the process terminated my phone rebooted and write 'phone code sig error:' then i've tried to install back the v1.0 writed the same problem and battery low cannot program.now when i try to turn on the phone the bootscreen apears and write that.My phone isn't charging anymore.i've tried to start the low battery boot loader but doesn't starts im using 0A02 bootloader version.HELP MEEEEEEEEE PLS

I'm using BG revolution v.4 now and after about 2 weeks my keypad stopped working, i only can use the red button to turn on or shutdown the phone. another button only take me to quick dial no.3 (button menu, 1 and *). then i restore my phone to the orignal e398 but the problem persist. but i dont think this is hardware problem cause i can uses *+#+red to enter the boot loader (# button not response when phone is on).
i've try to find thread similar but just can't find one with solution and cosed by "working fine now, thanks alot"

hey, read survival and revival guide. it says that if u short some contacts ull get the boot loader.

its indian rupees........well since my warranty was already void it didnt matter for me or for them..........so if ur fone is modded and u want it fixed for free(within the warranty) there cud be some trouble, but usually they overlook any modding i guess.......lemme know what happens
