I would like to purchase an inexpensive USB data cable off ebay and find some free software to be able to download and upload data and modify my phone's data.

Does the software for the 8900 in the stikied thread work for the 8930?

edit*

Another side note, i've just read through a few threads and am noticing that the phone is lackin in RF performance and not the greatest phone all around besides its Macro photo feature.

I just purchased it about 6 days ago. The sales guy said it was a really good phone and had a good signal, (i previously owned a Samsung N370 which hauled *** in the signal department). Is it bad enough that I should try and swap it for a different model? My contract was up so I got 150 off for signing up for another 2 years.

What's your opinion?

I got one. My company uses them for business on Alltell. IMHO it's a very solid, dependable phone. I can't speak for transmission speed, but range is good in the area we use them in with our carrier. Dropped calls are rare unless drivers are in a /very/ remote area.

I liked th ecompany phones so much, I bought one for my own personal use. I'm trying figure out how to set it up for Cingular (it's a prior bell.ca phone).

Anyone have any suggetsions?

Ralf

Have you tested out the Contact Manager application? Supposedly it is designed for the 8930, but I am having no luck with it. Do you know of another way to transfere all of my contacts without manually writting them all down by hand?

If its a bell.ca phone its locked. I would call bell to get the unlock code. Have the 800 number for the Cingular person call when they activate it. Most times they will give it to them. If you cannot get the un-lock code there is an easy way to use bitpin to hex edit (view) the code. Snoop around on this page for details. Remember any of the tutorial for the 89xx should be almost the same.

You have to put all the contacts in manually. There is no 3 party support for this phone and nothing from Audiovox. Its a big limitation on this phone. Bitpim can be used to download video/pics but extreme care must be taken to just copy files not delete or move. The phones software is fussy.
