help to connect S40 and Palm IIIC

I am trying to connect to internet thru the 2 devices. I have set everything correctly (I assume!) and opened the receive IRDA funtion of S40. But there's still no sign of communication between 2 devices. Can anyone tell me why this is so? Thanx.
