I gotta question for u guys. Does using your IM+ add extra data to your data plan. Like if your not sending someone pictures over it, just talking to someone, does it count towards your data cap ?

yes it counts towards your data usage
I dont know what you mean 'add extra data to your data plan'?

neither do i...sorry..hehe
but roughly...can you eyeball for me...how many MB in like 10 sent and recieved msg's ?

To give an idea if you did not use IM+ all day and it sat idle it would use around 1 to 2 mb's easily. Chat programs are massive data hogs even when idle so keep that in mind.

I found QuickIM to be somewhat data friendly well at least for me compared to a few other IM clients I have used in the past.

Do you have a sense of how friendly? How fast does it burn data?

I don't know exactly how much but my bills sky rocketed when I started using verichat and a couple other IM clients but using the same amount of emailing, web browsing and QuickIM my overages are considerably smaller now than before. IM clients do eat alot of data but w/ Rogers having a 25Mb cap on their so called unltd data plan... I definately prefer having my overages as low as possible.

thats true. but u can kind of hope for something like a tmobile plan.. 30 bucks unlimited or something? i was watchin tv the other day.. they had commerciali. 9.99 for unlimited sms.. argh.. i want that.

It's too bad in Canada data rates aren't cheaper especially w/ Rogers. I wish the 25Mb cap was lifted and that we had an unlimited sms plan but that's another story.

well. i went to a couple of hockey games locally where i am, from invites from the westcoast vp of rogers and such. they were mentioning they realize their data rates were high but not much they could do due the fact, we don't have enough ppl like the states. but.. pressure from bell and telus for lower rate plans are getting their attention as alot of ppl are jumping over to bell and telus. ... bring back the $40 unlimited data that was on fido.

I never understood why Rogers calls it an unlimited plan and it caps at 25mb. Everyone here need to email Rogers and or join the petition to help our Canadian users out and get Rogers to stop this cr^p!

Rogers does what it does because it knows it can get away with it. No mystery here! lol... As consumers we need to do same by punishing Ted and the shareholders sending the msg their marketing strategy will fail. Alas! let's all switch to Bell.

Rogers now shows it as 25MB on their website. It doesn't say unlimited anymore.
