As I posted yesterday, my wife has set up service with Cingular and she has two Samsung X497s due to arrive tomorrow, 22 March 06. My question is this. I am starting to look at getting a different phone already. Yeah I know too soon, right?

I am specifically looking at the Sony Ericsson Z520. How hard will it be for me to swap the Samsung for the SE? At what cost? Will I be able to do this at a Corp. Cingular store?

you would need to send the phones back and wait for them to be recieved at the warehouse, then reorder the z520. if you're looking online and they're free, remember prices are subject to change and it may not be free when you can order it. call customer care and tell them your situation, they'll let you know of the process. and since you're a new customer, you may be able to order the new one while the old one is still in transit.

I don't want to swap both just one. My wife did this yesterday and the Samsungs are due to arrive tomorrow, Wednesday. She will keep an eye on the 30 day trial and see if the SE is offered free or for a decent discount. If she had done this on Monday, she would have gotten two SEs instead of two X497s.

In terms of reception and sound/call quality, I have never had luck with any Samsung.

She went with the X497s for the price. Wish she had done this on Monday. We'd be looking at two SE Z520s instead. Ah well. Hope that I can go to Cingular and plead my case and get the SE for myself.
