V3C Verizon .03 to .02 Flash Tip

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

In case it helps anyone, I just did my .02 downgrade (actually, an upgrade with my new OBEX!!!) from a fresh Verizon V3C .03 firmware phone, and at first had a problem where the menu button didn't work (pressing it locked the phone up), but dialing and receiving calls worked. I basically did the flash again (it reported successful both times, no difference between the flash results) and it worked the second time. Just in case anyone out there runs into this problem and thinks they've hosed the phone or are thinking of jumping back to .03... try re-doing .02 flash again, assuming you can still connect the flash software to the phone.

There really is no need to flash back to .02 that I can see. A simple seem edit and I have OBEX working on my .03 vc3. I can do everything but connect to the internet using the phone as a modem and even found a workaround for that issue. No problem transfering files, ringtones, phonebook, or calendar. ( I take that back, Verizon's calendar has a software issue on both .02 and .03. Haven't found a fix yet!)

Wow, you got OBEX working on 03? That's the first I've heard of anyone being able to do that with .03...my understanding was that the code was entirely removed. Are you sure that it's OBEX and not MPT-based file transfers that are working? I know those can work with .03 after a seem edit...

.03 does not have OBEX. Please do not spread misinformation.

The seem edits for .03 "re-enables" MPT's Multimedia Studio option. MPT does not use OBEX to transfer files.

I am considering flashing to .02 from .03. What exactly are the differences, other than the ability to use bluetooth for file transfers? Would I loose anything by going backwards to .02?

Mantis108 can you show me what to do to downgrade it. Thank you.

All you need to do is follow the Wiki to the point of flashing and use the Ver .02 instead of the AllTel. If you search the threads around here (on Verizon .02 firmware), you'll find more nuggets of wisdom.... but really that's the bulk of the work.

Could you let me know how to do that?

If you are looking to use MPT to transfer files, etc... with your .03 V3C, you need to do seem edits... (see the link in my signature)...

As Ry Ry stated... Bluetooth File Transfers inside of MPT is NOT the same as Bluetooth OBEX File Transfers.

So if you have .03, don't think you can get OBEX.

Is the .04 for V3c available online?

NO

Not until someone can "leak it" to us... While you can backup the flash/flex out of a GSM phone... as of yet you can NOT do that with CDMA phones...

So unless someone who works someplace can get it, copy it, and post it, we are not going to have it online... You'll have to go to the store...

Unless verizon and their firmware updates get added to Motorola's Software Update...
