Are you addicted?

Are you addicted? I think I have a problem. I am never satisfied with my phone, I am always looking for something better. I got a Cingular 2125 and liked it very much. I then got a Samsung zx10 two months later and love it, I work in Houston alot and travel back and fourth from Clearwater, Florida. Love the 3g. CV is a good service, I am impressed by the speeds in which CV is and the quality. I don't want to go off topic so Ill end it there(there is a discussion on the Powervision vs. CV vs. Vcast services thread). I am never satisfied, now I want the zx20. I don't think you will notice the difference in speed from UMTS to HSDPA on a cell phone, but bluetooth sounds nice. I am thinking I have a problem, most people don't care about such crap, why do I. People at work think I am nuts since I get a new phone all the time. Some recent history: Sept 02 Handspring treo 180, Nov 02 Handspring Treo 270?(can't remember the correct name)April 03 Nokia 6610, Aug 03 Siemens sl56, May 04 inno 55, July 04 Siemens sl65, Sept 04 Sony T637, Feb 05 MPX 220, I used this phone the longest of the bunch, almost a whole year. Feb 06 CJingular 2125, March 06 Samsung zx10.

Nope. nothing wrong. You're a HowardForums user!

I was wondering if there were others out there with the same problem as myself. I have a friend that kids (I think he kids) that I need "help" with my problem of always wanting a different cell phone.

Currently I have the BlackBerry 8700c and have used it longer than I have anything over the past probably two years. Current phones I am watching ... Cingular 2125 (which I have owned once -- owned the SMT5600 twice), Cingular 8125 (about ruled it out due to size), the Motorola V3i (I like the thought of a more solid (OS-wise) RAZR, and finally the Nokia 9300.

My ideal phone ... a flip with Windows Mobile 5.0. I blame my problem on the MPX220 being junk. It showed me what a cell phone could be, but failed to deliver.

Discuss.

How old are you?

Posted by: AngelJo008

I'm the same way, can't seem to hold on to a phone longer than 2-3 months at best--the k-jam is the only one I've kept for longer than 6 months. I'll be keeping this one until something "better" comes along. don't worry, you are not alone.

Posted by: John-Fox

Thirty-six. Why?

Posted by: kal311

I'm 37 and I'm a phoneaholic. I'm thinking of switching back to Cingular just so I can take advantage of the SIM and own more than one phone. I miss being able to do that!

Posted by: cowboys93

I think many of us here on HoFo fall into this category. We are addicted to our cellphones. I have had my SLVR for 2 weeks. Great phone, but I am already planning to purchase a Treo700 (GSM) or other smartpohone. But, its gotta have UMTS/HSPDA or I'll stick with my SLVR and V600 a while longer.

I used the V600 for almost 2 years.

Posted by: annapink15

hey everyone i have a problem tooo!!! i haven't had my razr for a month and already switched to the slvr because of teh amazing deal i got on it and iw as going to keep both but realized that i dont need it. I'm also looking into the 8125 (my dream but too expensive) my privious phones : nokia 3560 {2-3}, LG L1150 (3), v505 (loved it had one that fell in the ocean and then when i called insurance they gave me a v551 (2-3) that i hated because it didn't come with anything that v505 came with(cool ringtones and such i mean) and it was smaller and supposedly better. , then Nokia 3300, now still sits in desk another great starter phone nokia 6101 and a nokia 6010 that jus sits there, both for sale by the way, an dthen a razr and now slvr i know i'm missing something lol yea so your not the only one with a prob lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, I have the Treo 700w with VZ right now and want to get the SLVR with Cingular. I already have a BB 8700c so I'd just switch between the two.

FWIW I think the Treo 700 is a great phone despite all the *****ing about it on the VZ boards. It has its shortcomings, what doesn't, but overall I'm very pleased with it.

Posted by: michael.s.under

I have an 8125 and am definately an early adopter. As soon as I saw something new was coming out I was all over it. I read engadget main and mobile and gizmodo daily waiting for something newer. The thing that keeps me content for now with the 8125 is that it is so fully customizable it is not even funny. You can change everything on this phone right to your specifications.

yeah i posted a discussion like this about a year ago

theres lots of us out there ....and good thing you guys have jobs b/c im still in school and its hard kicking this phone habit with no money!

any money i get is spent on phones and it sucks cuz rent is hard to come by some months

Hi I'm Chris. I'm 23 and I've been a phone addict since 2002...

Since I first migrated to AT&T GSM in 2002 I have been ALWAYS searching for a better phone. I havent used a phone longer than 6 months... EXPECIALLY when AT&T let you upgrade like crazy...

Nokie 8390, 3350 (I think), v60, v3683, a few samsung including the s307 and another I cant remember, motorola v505, then v551... most recently I got the nokia 3300 last summer then got a Treo 600 about 3 months ago... just got a Black RAZR about 2 weeks ago...

I dont even know what would be my perfect phone!

Even though I got the RAZR just a couple of weeks ago... I'm already eying the V3x!

I really liked the Treo 600, FEATURE wise, but recepetion sucked and so did the screen... But I also have a rule that, I after spending $250 for the s307 w/850mhz, I will never spend more than $200 on a phone. I also purchase all my phones off the internet so I dont have to change my sweet plan...

Posted by: quillhill

Uh, yeah. I've been wanting to get a backup phone for about a month now. A new backup phone. I had two backup phones a couple months ago, but sold them both (Samsung c207 and Moto v180). Since I got my husband a Samsung x497 in November off the Cingular pre-paid site for $65, he won't need a new phone for a while. So, yesterday I used HIS upgrade to buy me a Nokia 6030.
I signed up with Cingular in December 2004. I got a v551 and traded my Sprint phone for a SE T616. My husband used the Moto v180 from February to November 2005, then I used it off and on for a couple months after I got him the Sammy. I bought a RAZR in June 2005. I picked up the c207 in September off the BST. I used my upgrade in December to get the SE w600i. And now I have a 6030, too.

I get a new primary phone every six months and seem to buy a cheap backup phone during the intervening months. So, it's looking like I buy a new phone every three months on average.

Thank goodness my husband is understanding. He even lets me spend some of his annual bonus on a new phone. Can't wait till June. Time to start making a list of potential phone purchases.

Hi, my name is Kris and I'm a phoneaholic. I can't seem to get past the first step. Is there a way to recover from my addiction without giving up cell phones?

Posted by: Chd176

I am in the same boat with all of you guys, I normally buy a new phone every 3 - 6 months. Right now I have 15 phones not counting some non-working ones I have. I normally use 7 out of those 15 phones with my V3, V635, and CG300 as my primary phones. This is an expensive habbit though, normally after I pay all of my bills I'll save up just to get a new phone. I don't know what I'd do without GSM because sometimes I will switch phones at least twice in one day. I plan to buy me a Nokia 6682, Treo 650, or Motorola V3i I haven't really made my mind up yet.

Posted by: naviwilliams

I'm so broke because I spend so much money on mobiles!

Posted by: brewm12

yeah, same here..

i have a verizon phone and a cingular phone and i change the cingular phone like every few weeks. I got a nokia 6682 then returned it. then i bought a 8125 using my upgrade and then sold it. then i got a v3i then sold it and got scammed out of my money on ebay. Then i got another V3i and sold it. I was thinking about getting a pebl or a ZX10 but i kinda want a slvr now. i can't decide. i don't even use all the advanced features that these phones have to offer. thats why i might just get a slvr and stick with it... until may when i have a chance to renew my contract and upgrade.

mabey i should try getting a new verizon phone. hmm i dunno

Wow. You people are sicker than me. Lol

I feel better now, my condition is not that bad. We should set up a Phoneaholics anonymous. It would be a three step program. First step admit that you have a problem. Second step put down the phones, no more new plans. Third step keep your phone for length of contract. (like that would ever happen.). The program would also have several phases of severity.

phase 1. would be to change out phones every 4 months. easily cureable.

phase 2. change out phones every three months. some difficulty in curing disease.

phase 3. change out phones every two months. Phone psycosis, very dangerous phase, cure rate 50 percent.

phase 4 . change out phone every month. Phone psycosis is severe, constitutes HOFO ban, no new news. No planning on next phone when you had your new one just one week. May require isolation dependant on phone carrier.

phase 5. change out phones every week, or weeks. This would constitute a phone ban, with isolation until psycisois has subsided.

I have figured that I get a new phone every four and a half months, maybe five.
Wait......I may be wrong on that one. Hmm..eight phones in two years, well make it every three months. That would make me a (phase) 2 phoneaholic, Not that bad.

Posted by: b0stonirishguy

I, too, am a phoneaholic/gadget freak. My phone list above speaks for itself.

I'm looking forward to picking up the 6282 and N80 when they come out.

Posted by: chonga

i'll admit, my phone obsession has spread into other electronics

for example, after getting so involved with cell phones i wanted wifi, a bigger screen for watching movies than on my 6682, and to play games on ....purchased a PSP
next, wanted something better to type word and do excel spreadsheets on than my 6682.... now loooking for a pda or cheap laptop

so my roommates all come to me now to when they want something cuz im constantly researching and reading reviews on different pda's, mp3 players, gaming consoles, laptops, etc. so i guess it's not all bad

GSM and SIM chips fuel phoneaholicism. I have a W600i and bought a prepaid Nokia 6010 from T-Mobile ($7 after MIR) just to try 1) T-Mobile service (which is lacking) 2)Nokia UI and reception performance which aren't anything special compared to my W600i. In a few months I plan on getting a K790a and hopefully that will stop this addiction for a year at least. I thought that the W600i would last me years but no. Must go back to candybar.

If you look at my sig pic you will see that before GSM/Cingular, I changed my phone approximently every year or so. I signed up for Cingular in February 2005 and went thru 3 phones ending in December.

Posted by: 1badmf

My phone obsession started with changing the LED circuit board on my Nokia 5165 to have blue LEDs. And then it was all downhill. My phone list above doesn't list all of them because I put one per line instead of 45 per line like the rest of the patients here. Maybe I should do that.

My quickest turnaround was buying a Unlocked/Unbranded ROKR when they first came out from howardforums.com.com and then listing it on ebay the day after I got it, selling it, and shipping it out the same day.

I'm very happy about my "new" 6620, I've had so many phones that it's nice to have a phone that just works. Kinda like my Blackberry but less expensive. Basically my dream phone would be a Blackberry with a camera, and played music and movies. The Nokia E61 fills the bill with everything but the camera.

So I guess we will all be part of this addiction. I'm graduating college in May and I took a full time job making enough money to have some fun phone money. Until then, my 6620 will work great.

Phone addict checking in...

Phones since October:
MPx220
Nokia 6230
Nokia 3120
Cingular 2125
Nokia 6620
Nokia 6230 (again!)
V3 (on it's way)

Posted by: 1badmf

I have now joined the rest of the people with problems and posted all of my phones up on my profile. They aren't all of my past phones, just the fun ones.

Posted by: RulinSmoove

these adds that started popping up all over really piss me off.

Posted by: chonga

hah yeah i've noticed that recently too...was thinking the sammmee thing.

Posted by: 1badmf

I'm not getting any ads popping up. I have the ads in the thread but no popups. What are you getting?

Posted by: DonaldMick

Re: ads in thread - you can get rid of them, all it takes is a subscription.

I think I'm developing an addiction - a quick peek at my 3rd line in the phone profile will tell you why...

Posted by: MobileStyle

Well if you have a problem, then I have it too
I totally understand how you feel and I think there's nothing wrong with loving gadgets, it's something a lot of people do these days, although not everyone....

Posted by: kal311

I just resigned up with Cingular today so I could feed the addiction easier.

My recent phones for the heck of it:

1. BB 8700c
2. Moto SLVR
3. Moto Rzr
4. Treo 700w (Verizon)
5. Treo 650
6. Audiovox 5600
7. Nokia 6682
8. Blackberry 7290
9. Blackberry 7100
10. Blackberry 7230

Wow, I just realized how pathetic I am as this is all within the past 2 years.

Posted by: wuman82

mmm.. such a bad addiction to have.
where do you guys get your phones?

Posted by: quillhill

I get phones from random places. I've picked some up off HoFo BST. I've bought a few from Cingular, either with contract and one full price (the RAZR) and one phone I picked up from Cingular's pre-paid section on its Web site. I've purchased pre-paid phones from Target and Best Buy, too. I almost forgot about that. I'm sure I'll buy one or two off ebay and/or craigslist eventually. I almost bought a phone off a pawn shop Web site a few months ago.

Posted by: DonaldMick

Most of my upcoming phones will be bought through the Marketplace, but my carrier has a rather liberal upgrade policy so I'll be sure to abuse that a few times. I got my backup phone from a former Cingular dealer in the B/S/T forum.

Posted by: SonyStyle

hmm, Im checkin in with the same disease,

Lets see I had
Samsung x496 (sucked)
SE t637
SE K700i

I left out a few in between.... dangit. im forgetting now.....

I really like SE's. all of them I have had were good.

I was in the Hong Kong airport recently and spent an hour just drooling over all the phones they had for sale. It was a great way to kill time between flights!

Posted by: bugladydi

I too am in the same boat as the rest of my fellow addicts here - I change devices so often that I have a complete set of purchased "must-have" apps in each OS: WM, Palm and Symbian. This way I can I can bounce from the Samsung i700 to the p910 to the Treo 650 to the 8125 in about 8 months. Only converged devices these days. Thank god for eBay!!!

It's true that for some of us "at-risk" people, just one touch of a sleek, gleaming cellular device sends us spiraling down into a pit of device depravity that seemingly has no bottom - sigh.

Just wait until you have your career going and have money to buy any phone you want. you'll be a Phase 5 phoneaholic in no time.

haha after reading this thread, i can now tell my girlfriend i'm not the only one. my typical cellphone lifecycle is 3-4 months, depending on what phones are on the market. here's my list for the past year:

moto i730
moto i860
nokia 3120
blackberry 7100
moto razr
8125

i usually sell my old phones to buy my new phones so usually don't have any, but now i have 3, my 8125, razr and 3120.

i just love phones and gadgets...i don't think people will understand our sickness for there will be no cure for it...haha

Wow. It's ok. It's okay. don't worry. You are using the first step of a phoneaholic, admitting you have a problem.

Phase 1 is easily cureable.

By the way, what is your dad's cell bill like. Does he know he has a son who is a Phoneaholic?

It would make for a good afterschool special.

I'm on my way on a paupers income. I bought my first "real" phone with money from my high school graduation. $150 bucks on a moto mpx200. Then, I sold that for 175 and bought an audiovox smt5600. Then sold that for $200 and bought a blackberry 7230 for $150 and sold that for $276 on ebay (Canadians love their blackberries). Bought a BB 7100t for $150, traded that for a Sidekick II. Sold that for $235, bought a BB 7290. Then sold that to buy a Tmobile MDA, returned that and got out of contract. Then came to Cingular and bought an unlocked 6620. Whew, that one purchase at the end of high school has brought me all the way through college and now I'm off to the "real" world. Who knows that it'll bring?

Yes, both of my parent know this, because I am constantly asking for new phones. Our bill us $100+ every month, just because we have a large plan and 3 lines. I recently got on my grandpa's bill, because my phone was malfunctioning (z500a) and we couldn't upgrade until April (this is December when my phone stopped working, no way I'm waiting 5 months.) So he added a line and got me a black razr. I am on his plan and I'm looking on ebay, not looking forward to this third razr I am holding in my hand.

I think I'm addicted to HOFO for just this reason. A place I can come to share my obsession with others who feel the same way, but I must say that my device resume is not quite as long as some of the others. I tend to keep my devices and customize the crap out of them before I get board, and want to move on, although I do have a 2125 siting under my bed right now that only saw the light of day for about a month . I was waiting for the 8125, what can I say. Just before I saw this thread I was on my way to post another thread "What's your next device?", so as you can see... We are all in the same pricey, technology driven boat.

Hello my name is Michael and I'm a phonaholic also.

I have had 27 phones(counting the ones I have now) since switching to GSM on Dec 23, 2002, and see let up in sight, if anything it's getting worse. I've bought 4 since October 2005!!!

Damn you, GSM!!! Damn you!!!

I've actually come full circle now, and I'm using my Nokia 8890 again, going on a few weeks. Sometimes, simple = good.

It sure has, but I think I've worked through some really important issues. And I'm making progress.

My name is Pat M and I am a cell-aholic too! Way too many to list but probably every 2 to 4 month I change even if I have to pay full price. I've had a cell phone even before they were fashioable so I've had alot of phones!!! Right now I am using the SLVR but still have the RAZR on my desk with the stinkin dusty screen! I'm happy to see I am not alone.

I have had 3 razrs since january :-(. I hate them! But all cingular can do for me is keep sending me another one when they malfunction.

Its a Motorola phone, what do you expect? Try a Nokia or Sony Ericsson next time.

Posted by: Rok3nIt

I just got some info that if my third razr messes up cingular will send me another model, how much does that cost for like a w600i or a cg300? Or is it free since it is the exchange thing?

uhh yea. I have everyone phone that anyone would want since I was 16. Look at my sig, and answer the question, do you want any of thoose phones? My a1200 comes tommorow.

Posted by: mikecp421

buying new phones is fun there is so much to want.

Posted by: CIAlias

Well I've gone through about 50 phones in the past two years. But I just can't let go of my Razr! I've been with it for 5 months and even though I have purchased other phones I have gotten rid of them all. There's something about the Razr that I just love and I have kept it.

Posted by: tripy

I am picking up my w600 today, I have had 6 motorola's, so I am going to try a w600i. Are they as good as they sound?

Posted by: KlamshellKing

see, i have a huge problem. i love cell phones and buy a new one every two months. and theyre all high end like Treo 650 and V3i etc... but i also buy lots of other electronics and i literally know everything there is to know about each category. ive had lots of mp3 players, phones, game systems, computers, pdas etc. and i keep buying new ones sooo often. i basically buy atleast one expensive electronic $300+ every month. i know its not too bad. but the worst part is im only 15... so by the time im older like 30 ill be getting a new phone every hour. im scared...

Is it possible to get a sidekick II for cingular

No, sidekick data plans are only supported by T-mobile. I guess it is possible to use an unlocked one but you would only be able to use voice and sms. That would be a waste of a device, since it can do so much more with the data plan

Same here. I just can't be without a RAZR. I got my 1st one in Feb '05. Sold it, regretted it, bought another. Sold it, got a Black one(which I still have) and got a V3i in Feb '06. I have other phones, but I keep going back to the Razr.
If they will just make a Razr smartphone. I'd be in heaven.

I've been reading GREAT things about the A1200, I'm just waiting for the price to drop alittle.

The HTC "Star Trek, Smart Flip, etc" is pretty close. I can hardly wait til it's released.

The motorola Q is suppose to be "razr" like, not nearly as thin though and sadly from what I understand its going to verizion first and wont be on gsm until q1 07

Posted by: squish37

I just found this thread and HAVE to add my two cents. I too am a phoneaholic! It got even worse when I started buying them, using them till a new one I had to have came out and selling my previous one on ebay. Then it became a challenge and a thrill to see if I could make the older phone cancel out the cost of the new one. Sometimes between the rebates, promos and ebay I actually got paid to switch to the phone I really wanted. As soon as I got it though it was old news and I needed the newest release. I even switched to Cingular because they use the sim card and I could own more than one phone at a time. By switching I gave up a less expensive yet better plan for lesser quality of service but.... Yes! I am a phone junkie!!!!!

I'm slowing becoming addicted. Just picked up a SLVR L7 and I can't stop thinking what I want to get next.

I really want the v3x but am worried that cingular phones are going to become propriatory due to cingular video and the likes. I also have heard that they are going to use the 850mz only before long and I don't want to have a phone I love for a network I won't be able to use it on. If anyone else has any insight on this I would love to hear it. Would there be any way to get cingular video on that phone? Internet, texts, etc? How long does anyone think it will be before cingular is 850 only? I live in IL between Chicago and Milwaukee, WI. Thanks for any info and opinions!

I really want the w800i but 850 hold me back.

I am pissed. Why didnt the w810i come out earlier.

I would be a lot happier.

I have the same dilemma. Around Los Angeles, 1900 is till very big but I don't know how long that's going to last.

Phoneaholic, but can't support my wants.

I've gone though many phones, can't seem to find the perfect one, then when I do something better comes out.

unfortunatly price is a factor, as I'm only 15, but I do have 3 backup phones that I can use.

about 4 months is how long I can stand a phone, longer if it's good(Like my S710a) shorter if it's awful(V635)

Posted by: THETRUTH#34

PHoneaholic also, but i use my 30day trial and sell them to support my needs phones had.
1-mpx220
2-smt5600
3-w600i
4-e398
5-s710
6-v551
7-v3
8-nokia 6620
9-nokia 6010
10-nokia 3120

This has been within the last 7 months

If I had that many phones in the last 7 months I would of gone crazy.

In fact, the only phone that is could be good to me is the w810i.

Posted by: Ksolo12

Wow!!!!!! There are more of us than I thought. I usually switch between my current phones in my profile every week or two. In addition to that I have my eye on the following phones:

SE W800i
SE W810i
SE P990
Nokia 8801
Nokia N91
Motorola V3x

I will have three of these phones within the next few months. I used to be the type of person that wanted everything when it first came out; however, I have grown patient and can wait a while. This allows me to get the phone at a decent price while letting the early firmware bugs get worked out.

Luckily my wife and I have pretty good jobs. She thinks I'm crazy with my fascination over cell phones but she just laughs at me every time I am on this forum. I'm also a watch guy too.

Posted by: Rok3nIt

I get a lot of phones but they are usually lower end like a:

Nokia 3595
Siemens c61
Nokia 3595 (#2)
LG C1300
SE Z500a
Motorola Razr Black #1
Motorola Razr Black #2 -XBM
Motorola Razr Black #3 -XBM
SE W600i
--
it gets more and more up the line each time.

It's not that I'm addicted to getting phones. It's that when I get a phone it never quite lives up what I really wanted out of the device. So I keep getting the next phone hoping to get that next increment of improvement toward what I really wanted all along in the first place.

I wouldn't suggest that if I were you. Because if you're a true addict, as I am, you'll just waste your money paying the ETF to go back to gsm.

I know I would.

I'm sure there is something wrong with me! About ever couple of months I get this urge to get a new mobile, sometimes it does not matter what it is. It's not like I even have the money to do it, bills to pay, and all that, and there is nothing wrong per se' with my present mobile...

I have a family plan, I've even thought about getting another line just so I could have multiple options to update. My wife has an upgrade available right now. I'm so tempted to take it, not like she is going to use it anytime soon. Just trying to hold off, in case Cingular come out with some nice Nokia's. At least I know am not alone...

Feb 06 CJingular 2125, March 06 Samsung zx10.
I'm satisfied to a certain extent. I still have my 6620 and I have a 6682.... But honestly if the 5195 was gsm that'll still be in use also!!! But I like the flexiblities of the new technology and innovations of the phone community. i'll be keeping my phones as i purchase/collect them

I hear you on that! I had a Razv too, I liked the shape, size etc, and the James Bond feel when I use to take it out to use it. But, to be honest the phone itself, functions etc, are boring! I suppose that's the joy of constantly changing mobiles - you get to play with others...

Posted by: drunkentiger56

this is why i love hofo! i got to subscribe to this forum now~

hello my name is sean and yes i am also one of the many cell phone aholic. yes i know its sad but I JUST LOVE CELL PHONES!

got my first cell phone in July 12, 2002!
Samsung SGH S-307

Than found out more about cell phones, cingular, and GSM phones!
2nd phone i got
Samsung X-427!
i just loved those two phones. very good phone for a noob to learn about phones and learned how to replace housings with these two! my first two son!
than used family member's upgrade for a SE Z500a because it was 32.50 !
after awhile my disease started to ease down because phone prices were going up and money in my pocket were going down. But i got readdicted after getting a job and than upgrading (of course with my other family member's upgrade) a SE S710a! wow this phone made me go crazy and crave more!

Than used my upgrade for a LG CE500 but were dissappointed because couldn't transfer photos on memory card to pc. so returned it and grabed a SLVR but itunes and SLVR= ugh! returned it and continued to use my SE S710a....

After couple months found a store in Boston common that had some unlocked oversea phone and bought a unlocked Samsung D-500! loved it so much made me want to get the D600!

So right i got a D600 and im thiking of moving up to pocket pcs ~ 8125! Next paycheck going to get a 8125.

i sold my z500a two s307 to a hofo member and gave D500 to younger brother and s710a to my sister. god i love everyone in this forum! common interest, CELL PHONES!

Posted by: Laynie

sad... i thought i was bad. i would go through depression and paranoidal stages when i lost my phones. even though i had my money set on something elsewhen i was a kid i would either buy a new phone or persuade my dad to to buy me one for "safety reason". even when i was in highschool, though we werent allowed and they took my phone because i didnt hide it right, and i called 911 and demanded hey give my phone back. i principal overrided the school police and made them give it back. phone was and is still my life. im hoping to get a college job working at a cell store. i even thought about taking a course to make cellphones, as they have sent me something in the mail about it. i love phones over ipods, computers, anything. and i absoloutley love this forum. but it shocks me that alot of the people on it aren't even cellfone addicts.

You called 911 to get your phone back? haha, it soudns like my school!

Hi, My name is Kevin and Im I have this same problem. Im almost embarrassed to go through all the phones Ive had so I wont! . Ive been with Nextel,T-Mobile, Sprint, and now Verizon. I love Verizons coverage but I HATE how they fudge with the phones(BLUETOOTH). And every phone Ive had has had a problem with it (or is it me lol) and then when I get a new phone the bluetooth always behaves differently. Why am I in the Cingular forum you ask? I wanna try the Slvr! I wanna be able to buy new phones on Ebay and just switch SIM cards! Im seriously thinking about switching to Cingular for this reason...although my gf and friends will think its because my parents are on cingular! hehehehe

Posted by: darkninja

I am also addicted to cell phones. My girlfriend doesn't understand since she is the kind of person who only uses their phone to make calls. So whenever she sees me with a new phone i get this look like what is wrong with you. So at least on hofo i seem like much less of an addict. Luckily the w810 is having problems so that it will force me to wait for the US release. But i really don't want to .

I'm more addicted to PDAs than phones: Palm m105->m125->m505->Dell Axim X50 w/wifi

As far as phones, I keep a Nokia in my pocket if I know Cingy or TMO has a weak spot. Started with TMO w/T610, hopped to Cingy for the SE Z500a(due to TMO degrading where I live), picked up a Nokia 6030(work reasons- no camera phone zones) and somehow when I needed to get a prepaid SIM for TMO a 6010 kit was cheaper

On the other hand my dad has a bluetooth fetish, you can't pull him away from his recently purchased BT headset from Radioshack and his Moto V557 (my mum hates her SE W600 and uses my dad's old Moto V330)

I too have this problem, I’m a moto-mobile junkie, it all started in college when I received my first taste of moto, the v120t, soon I was dabbling into other things, next came the moto V500 and then quickly into the moto V600( one of my favorites of All time) As of late its been pretty bad in the past 4 months I have owned the L6, Slvr L7, V3i, and now I’m awaiting my A1200/ ming to arrive in a few days ..This is my 1st smartphone/pda….. So who knows what’s going to happen after this purchase.

I was a moto junkie for a while as well. Got a razr and modded the heck out of it, then got the V3i and also modded the junk out of that guy too.

But i recently got the SE w810i and i am in love with sony's phones and especially their UI. It is like a breath of fresh air, not that i ever had a problem with moto's UI and i do miss being able to hack it to my hearts content.

Acceptance is the first step in curing the disease. You are in denial. None of the phones live up to expectations, this is the problem. I would say you are a phase 4 phoneaholic.

Posted by: iamthedudeman

Lets review people.:

That would make me a (phase) 2 phoneaholic, Not that bad.

remember the steps for treatment. There is still hope for you yet. this is why I started this tread for all phoneaholics to seek treatment. Just think of this thread as therapy. Man, thought I was the only phoneaholic around, guess I was wrong.

Um... I lied!!

I am kinda one of those people that that talk really good about phones like the day or so after I get them, and then go back and say how bad they are. Well, this is the case with the 6682. It's not a bad phone, it never messed up on me 1 time, but it was too confusing for me. It is a great phone and if I knew how to work it I would still have it. But sadly, it went back to the store.

Posted by: HBL

OK how about me? I'm a refugee from VZW. I started service w/ Cingular on 5/15 with a 6230 I bought on EBAY. I'm testing coverage out in So Cal to see if I want to make a permanent switch to GSM.

Since I'm providing my own phone, i felt I needed a back up just in case. I purchased a refurb 6030 Go Phone just 5 DAYS after starting my service. The phone arrived a few days ago (it's a cool little jewel). I let a friend borrow it when her 3395 went belly up.

Popping sims in and out of phones is a new and exciting experience for me. Now i'm cruising HoFo looking at all my future options. Hmmm..should I start saving for a 6682, or hope Nokia will make a 5500 for the states...lol you get the idea.

i have been adicted to phones since as long as i can remember.... i remember being 9 or 10 begging my dad for a cell phone... didnt get one till my freshman year of high school... which was 2004 so since then i have had 12 phones... all posted above... its hard being 17 with no job wanting a new phone every month
