My friend got pulled over for light tinted blue lisence plate?

I just put them on wonderin if theres anyway if ill get caught just like him ?

someone tell me wht to do ?

Dunno about GTA, but in a lot of states any license plate covering (tinted or not) is illegal. I know it's a matter of seconds before you get busted in IL with one

I know in California it is illegal to have a license plate cover over your but I still have one, but mine is not tinted. I have not problems and it has been on there for almost two years and no trouble yet. It sounds like he got pulled over by a bored cop.

YRP cops are buttholes, they pull u over for the slightest things. YES they will pull you over for ONLY plate covers, ricer bulbs etc. The crime rate here is so low the cops seriously have nothing better to do. Roads are pretty much desserted at night times if you go a little north.

My highschool teacher's boyfriend is a cop in TO and he says its a totally diff story down there. Cops are so busy dealing with all the crimes they wont bother to go through all the paper work for a plate cover unless you're caught with sthg else "major" like speeding or DUI.

Word of advice : York Region isnt a good place to do stupid stuff.

P Lam is correct, it's also end of the month...quotas need to be filled

It's sort of ironic, yellow and blue tints show up the plate numbers really well, you'd think they'd encourage the use and not use it as a source of revenue...errr illegal add on

Yes, they can!

My sister in the GTA, got pull over because of the BULE Licence plate cover! This cop gave her a warning, and tell her to take it off! You can put a clear plate.. if any colors.. smoke, blue or what ever. They CAN give you a ticket if they follow the book.

I got pull over last year, because I change my licence plate light to those blue bright LED Lights, near the Airport. And I been driving with these lights for 2 years in GTA, and no one ever pull me over!

Losers! the cop give me a ticket, then tell me to goto brampton court to fight it. He said if you fight it, you usually get off with small things like this.. So, why is he give me a ticket? and then tell me to go fight it? Quotas!!

BTW, my court day is June 6! It is a waste of my time!

Yeah those plate lights, neon lit anything will get you a ticket but the plate covers are a discretionary thing, i've see those matted plate covers where you can't see anything....and the cop just ducks behind and then moves on...no stopping at all

In Ontario, anything that covers any portion of the license plate, clear or no, is technically illegal. So even a dealer plate frame that slightly obscures the "Ontario" at the top of your plate could get you a ticket if the cop so desired.
This will only really affext you if the cop wants to pick on you. I get pulled over all the time for being too low, playing the music too loud, headlights, LED license plate lights, etc etc but the cops have never hassled me about my clear plate covers.

the funny thing is that even though license plate covers are illegal in ontario they ministry of transportation offices still sell them.

such scammers.. lol i found out abt it the hard way.. sigh.. i bough grey plate covers.. and not one but two friggen cop cars pull me over one in front braked hard.. and other one behind me... grrrrr..

yeah i got pulled over last year cuz of the smoke plates, then the cop saw the headlight covers, then found out i didn't have my D.L. with me and ofcourse no insurance!! so after wasting 1.5 hr he let me go without anything!!!! and i was a littile drunk too...
he actually asked me that if i was a cop how many ticked would i give him?! and i said none! LOL

those are not official ministry offices, theyre run by serperate companies, ie, in square one its run by the mississauga board of trade... and theyre an authorized mto agent, so they CAN sell other items sucha s off road gear, ie plate frames

I got pulled over by cops for the blue license cover few years ago. (Montreal)
I guess it's because I rev a bit too loud on the street and draw their attention, but then I saw them and they couldnt caught me speeding or anything, they just follow me for like 5 minutes (I drove below 50km on 50 while they are behind me), I assume that they couldnt caught me for any reason except my blue plate cover, so they pull me over and tell me to take it off right away or it will be a ticket. They even borrow me a tool for me to unscrew them off, no ticket was given.

Then I never put back the cover.....just one more thing for the cop to give you trouble.
