It's an excellent phone. It's basically an update to the 6010 and 3120, adding a sharper display, speakerphone (6010 didn't have one, 3120 did) and an FM radio. If what you want is a good basic phone, you can't go wrong with it IMO.

Does the 6030 have the high volume hiss like the 3100/3120 does?

The volume is really loud but there is no hiss. I'm using it for now until I get my other phone, but I think it's great. Although if you've ever used a higher end Nokia like the 6682 you can hear the difference in the earpiece quality. Nonetheless it's still a good phone. The reception is awesome and on a full battery it lasted quite a while like 4 days without charging it again. Noting that I didn't make very long conversations but probably little 1 to 3 minute chats.
