My friend has the above cell but because the cord is not a typical usb kind, instead it's the kind with teeth sorta speak, so how can she use Mobile Phone Tools? Do you know what I mean? Is there a adaptor that changes it so it can used as a USB? Thanks

Not a typical USB kind. Hmmm.

The connector on the V557 has been around on various Motorola models for years, so actually it IS rather typical for Motorola. Your friend just needs to buy the appropriate cable, and no you can't just drop into WalMart and get one. Try eBay, Motorola's site, whatever, and get an appropriate data cable.

When searching eBay, look for cables that work with the V400, V600 or V551. That should get you pointed in the right direction.

Good. Now all you need to worry about is making sure the copy of MPT is up to date - obviously versions of MPT that came out before the V557 won't know about it. You can either keep running MPT's update until you have the latest version or you can e-mail their tech support (head over to www.bvrp.com) and request a download of the full release of 4.04b and just start there.
